Seeing this post, as a person who loves music and has educated them self on many genres and eras, makes me want to cut off every person who likes potential breakup song arms and beat them with them. Beatles are the sole reason for that songs existence and were completely revolutionary to compare the two is like comparing skrillex to Bach. It’s just not okay

Heh. I once got pushback from a valued listener by including not one but two songs from Insomniatic in lies.com podcast #24. “Potential Breakup Song” wasn’t one of them; I went instead with “If I Could Have You Back” and “Closure”. But I can certainly see someone having a soft spot for it.
With that said, I subsequently used only Beatles music in lies.com podcast #28. So, you know, if snorlaxatives wants to make it a contest, I guess I’d have to come down on the other side.
I got the audiobook and started over from the beginning, even though I’d read the first 6 chapters or so already. She talked in her video about how anxious she felt because “doing voices isn’t my thing”, but so far I think she’s doing a great job. I was listening to the first Lizzie/Lydia scene at the gym this morning and her Ashley!Lizzie was amazing.
I mostly didn’t mind when Tumblr started running “Sponsored Posts” in my dashboard. Tumblr has to make money. Most of the ads were boring, a few were interesting, but they weren’t a big deal.
This is an older post, but this is exactly the problem I’m coming across now. I use tumblr as an escape and most of what I follow is silly, happy, or pretty content. I can’t do horror. Horror should not be placed on our dashboards with no easy way to hide it on mobile. The fact that this has been a problem for over two years is ridiculous!

I wasn’t expecting the sudden attack of feels from seeing MK reading the book in-character as Lydia. Actors, man.
We’ve all taken a Buzzfeed quiz and been baffled by the outcome. Because let’s face it, everyone wants to be the protagonist. It wasn’t until I watched a particularly difficult episode of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries that I realized I wasn’t Elizabeth after all, I was Charlotte–I was the girl that settled for the less than ideal situation because she couldn’t afford to wait for something better. But The LBD’s modernization of the story made Charlotte’s story much more appealing–she didn’t settle for the job, she made it her own, she took a less than ideal job and made it a resounding success. I even made a video about my realization. When I was lucky enough to meet Julia Cho at the Hilton bar during VidCon, I thanked her for her excellent portrayal of the character, and how she made me come to terms with my inner Charlotte. She replied in the best way possible, “We can’t all be Lizzy/Lizzie.”
The LBD also made me like Lydia. I didn’t identify with her, but I was able to understand her. I was able to see the girl underneath the surface. And I wanted an end to her story. So I was extremely excited when I found out that noblerorick and rachelkiley were creating a novel to give us that closure. I didn’t know that it would make me identify with Lydia. I didn’t know that the same tears that came when I watched that fateful episode of The LBD during my daily commute would bubble up again while listening to marykatewiles bring Lydia to life on my way to work.
I have 3 hours and 11 minutes left of the Epic Adventures of Lydia Bennet, and I don’t want to spoil it for anyone, so I won’t give away the plot. But if you are anything like me, the dedication “to all the Lydias out there” may hit closer to home then you ever thought it would. And maybe you’ll learn that it’s ok to embrace your inner Lydia, too.

Giant swallowtails (Pipilio cresphontes, the largest butterfly in the U.S.) have been hanging around the orange tree in our backyard lately. Last Saturday I took some video of one with my phone, and only realized when I looked at the video today that it shows the butterfly laying an egg. So I took a look at the leaf in question, and sure enough; the egg was still there.
So. It’s here. It’s finally time. I’ve been terribly impatient. I wanted this book out in the world before it was ever even written. I wanted it to exist the minute the videos ended because I needed to know what happened next. What happened to Lydia, who had become so much more of a person than a character.
I don’t know if rachelkiley remembers this, but we were in the middle of the super-high craziness of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, when the 200th anniversary of P&P conflated with Lizzie getting to Pemberley/the sex tape and the whole thing seemed to explode. At that time, we were already writing the final episodes. I whispered to Rachel that Lydia’s story should be a book. This was before anyone had even said a word about The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet, let alone another book after that. I just knew that Lydia had more to say after the end, and I wanted to hear it.
It was just an idea at the time. And it took a long time to make it more than that. (Unfortunately, there is no such thing as instant gratification in the book world. Also, babies/jobs/stuff.) We’ve been posting chapters on Wattpad but now the whole thing is finally here. (I’m even doing a giveaway on my facebook page today, so you could potentially read the whole thing for free.)
And I hope you read it. Enjoy it. Or not, you don’t have to enjoy it. Ask us questions. Post reviews on amazon or goodreads. We also enjoy a nice gifset.
Regardless, I’m just happy that Lydia finally gets her own say.
Well, today’s the day! I’m so excited that this part of Lydia’s story is finally out in the world. Congrats to @rachel_kiley and @katerorick on a wonderfully written novel.
