The Australian Society of Authors has a showcase of illustrators called The Style File and I am now on it!
I applied early last year and was unsuccessful, but applied again in November and was accepted! I’m super excited because (a) the other illustrators on there are really cool and some of them are people I really look up to in the Oz industry and (b) bc honestly the validation that my work has improved up to a standard that, like, they feel comfortable promoting is pretty nice.
So yeah, go check it out! Or don’t, really, it’s just art that you’ve seen on my art blog (and in lower res), I just wanted to share the excitement :)
The second part of my Poe Party Behind the Scenes series is here! Watch as I take you through production–well, as much as I could between producing and acting and repairing costumes. Enjoy and stay tuned for the final installment next week!
These Fab Four individuals known as @shipwreckedcomedy have created something so special in the form of #PoeParty, and it was so epic to see it on the big screen.
I’ve had the honor of spending almost a year working alongside them that they feel like a family to me. @mkwiles @seanpersaudmd @sineadpersuade and @hartgracesarah have done some wonderful, hard fought work and I couldn’t be any more proud of them.
Poe Party means a lot to me because I spent a lot of time and energy doing what I could making sure that the graphics, posters and animation was of the same quality that they put in on the screen. Seeing the public reaction to it has been wonderful and I’ve been fully taken aback by it. It’s an experience like no other and I’m so grateful for MK & Sean to ask me to come on board, it’s been an opportunity like no other.
While there’s still work to be done, last night really hit home because every second spent on this show lead to this point, making me proud to say that WE DID IT! I remember the first day we shot the Kickstarter posters, going from that to last night, words really can’t describe it. So proud of everyone who made Poe Party happen and show how special it has become! Thank you! (at Vintage Cinemas Vista Theatre)

I can’t find a source link for the chart, but the drawings were the work of BugGuide user Lynette, who also wrote a useful (and illustrated) discussion of spider eye arrangements.
I was tagged by lies for the “aesthetic post with pictures on your phone” meme, and the temptation to cheat was so damn high. I have only had my phone for a few months so I don’t actually have a lot of pictures on it. (And much of what I do have is pics of documents and control panels and damaged apartment fixtures and shit like that.) And I was in Paris when I got tagged. And I was in Munich for Oktoberfest this weekend. So I really could’ve stacked the deck, so to speak, with spectacular images.
But I didn’t. I could never lie to lies. I used only what was already on my phone before I got tagged.

RIGHT, so for those of you just tuning in, this is sweepseven’s prize for winning the AskNux Challenge a little while back. I was asked to draw a scene from sweepseven’s beautifully written fanfic,Downpour. It’s super short and definitely worth the read so please do try to check it out and tell her what you think!
And now on a final note, If you have any critiques so I can improve my art (anything at all) I will always highly appreciate it! Thank you, chromies!
I believe that’s actually 70 year old John Seale operating on top of the camera rig in the B-roll footage shooting the polecat scene. He boasted about how he didn’t fall off. (He does a lot of recreational sailing.)
2/2 together a long time(I came to this conclusion after reading your
discussions about the two of them) so this seems a betrayal that hurts
more. I will vehemently agree that Furiousa made the right choice but I
like the little extra(possibly imaginary) depth to her character. Maybe
I’m wrong but I just had to get it out! Thanks for reading!!
My ask policy is ‘Yay! Somebody is talking to me!’
Also, YES. Absolutely. Let me talk to you about Furiosa and Ace. Things I see in that stretch of them interacting:
– She doesn’t look at him if she can avoid it – this is clearly puzzling him. He ducks his head to the side to try to make eye contact, like ‘What is up with her?’ so I have to think they normally interact very differently – She absolutely doesn’t lie to him. Like with making eye contact, I think she knows he would see right through her – Even though there is no explanation and it makes no sense, and she’s acting kind of weird, he trusts her – He’s clearly comfortable enough with her to make suggestions: “Should WE turn around and run them into our backup” even though she’s at the wheel – They have a well-practiced move to defend the rig’s flank: all he says is “Ready!” and they move perfectly smoothly around eachother. – She has tears in her eyes when the boys start dying – she keeps looking into her mirrors, and I read that as her way of Witnessing them. She sacrifices them to her escape and that plainly pains her, but I think this is her way of acknowledging them, of honouring them, of Witnessing them in the best way she can – The idea that Furiosa might be betraying Joe (and by extension him) doesn’t seem to occur to Ace for a really long time – He is more concerned with getting answers out of her than moving aside and letting Nux take her out. This is personal. He needs to know. – even though she has about five guns and a knife within easy reach, all she does is punch him to get him out of the way – Ace clearly survives and turns up at the Citadel and they work things out and become friendly again.
