The Detective’s Guide is nearly here! Out on Feb 23 from Affirm Press, and starting to get its first reviews now. It’s an adventure mystery set on the RMS Aquitania in the 1920s, and I absolutely loved it.
Congrats to Nicki on a brilliant story, and thanks infinite to Meg at Affirm for all the help while we worked through the cover.

The first 50 seconds of “Identikit” edited with a high-pass filter and center-pan remover to isolate the backing vocal track, revealing the origin of the album’s title.

“The historical novel, as I learnt with some concern after I had written two or three, belongs in a despised genre. But the tale of narrative set in the past may have its particular, time-free value; and the candid reader will not misunderstand me, will not suppose I intend any preposterous comparison, when I observe that Homer was further removed in time from Troy than I am from the Napoleonic wars; yet he spoke to the Greeks for two thousand years.”
