Hello, it’s your secret santa! Do you have any plans for the holiday? I’m going to New York for a family friend’s wedding, so I’m hoping to watch a Broadway show before I leave.

Monday, November 28th, 2016

I think my holiday is going to be mostly of the stay-at-home variety this year. I’m looking forward to it, though.

I hope you get to see a show on Broadway during your New York trip! That sounds very exciting. I recently saw Hedwig and the Angry Inch in L.A., and it was wonderful!

“No one answered. The noon-bell rang. Still no one spoke. Frodo glanced at all the faces, but they were not turned to him. All the Council sat with downcast eyes, as if in deep thought. A great dread fell on him, as if he was awaiting the pronouncement of some doom that he had long foreseen and vainly hoped might after all never be spoken. An overwhelming longing to rest and remain at peace by Bilbo’s side in Rivendell filled all his heart. At last with an effort he spoke, and wondered to hear his own words, as if some other will was using his small voice.
`I will take the Ring,’ he said, `though I do not know the way.‘”

Casual reminder that he is still elitist af. Theater is not accessible. Past theater is even less accessible. The day he releases an official DVD is the day people stop posting bootlegs.

its not being elitist..wtf. you go to ANY theater show, ANY caliber of talent and the rules still fucking apply. if you knew anything about theater, the material is copy written and its illegal to film ANY theater show where the material is distributed by a licensing company. don’t come for Lin’s life because he respects the craft of theater. as any true theater person would know..its about respect. you dont even have to be a “true theater person” its fucking common sense. and never mind the disruption it causes the actors and other audience members (LOTS of disruption), its fucking ILLEGAL. so fuck you for thinking anything about Lin when it’s much bigger than him

Side note to @hamiltonandfluff: If you actually believe the day an official DVD is released is the day people stop posting bootlegs, then… you believe at least one manifestly untrue thing. The day an official DVD is released is the day posting of bootleg goes up by at least an order of magnitude, maybe two.

The United States is not a monarchy, you are not expected to show reverent respect to the POTUS, they are not some inhuman-godlike being. There is not to be an assumption that they have been put there by any sort of divine hand, so stop telling people that they need to respect Donald Trump’s election. Especially when (a) he did not respect Obama’s, (b) he won without the popular vote because of an antiquated system that has no place in today’s United States, © He. Ran. His. Campaign. With. The. Barring some spectacular surprise, OP’s use of the present tense in that first sentence is about to become a sadly quaint artifact of a simpler time.

You know what could save us right now? A deal. A really huge, audacious deal. – Medium:

I’ve followed some new-to-me people on Twitter lately, and it has become a scary experience reading through my feed. Because I want to believe they’re engaging in hyperbole. But the evidence that they’re not is compelling.

Monday, November 28th, 2016

“Strict observance of the written law is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to the written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the ends to the means.”

How is it working with siblings? Because in my school that are these twins( a boy and a girl) and when we work together they sometimes end up arguing about something that doesn’t even make sense to what we are doing.

Sunday, November 27th, 2016

UGH, working with siblings is the absolute worst you guys. Those two are a nightmare.

JUST KIDDING!! I can safely say that Sean and Sinead Persaud are two of the best people I know, so it’s always such a treat when I get to be around them. Being apart of Shipwrecked, this year was super special because of Poe Party where we got to work together so closely. When writing together they form this little superpower- type club where they are unstoppable.

I know for Poe Party they had a combination of methods to get the script done (writing separately, together, etc) but one of my favorite memories has to be when all 4 of us were at “Shipwrecked Headquarters” earlier this year. It wasn’t a particularly memorable day or anything, but they were sitting at our table around 1 AM just in this frenzy of writing. Ideas were being thrown every which way, laptops were typing extremely fast and it just felt super exciting to be in the room with them, watching their process come together.

I think it’s safe to say that NO siblings, or just people in general, will agree 100% of the time, but they always figure out a way to get to where we need to be – and that’s what matters. Also, just in case someone didn’t know, they are not twins – just siblings.

Overall it really is such a dream group and they are all very, very talented and lovely people and I’m lucky to call them friends:)

PORTRAITS BY BOLDINI

The first two tho. One is a dashing young widow (let’s call her Eunice, which is the kind of name that is awkward to the modern ear, but is the kind of name a dashing young widow circa 1900 could pull off with the right clothes and the right attitude)  and the other–almost holding her hand is her unmarried friend (Gonna call her Sarah. IDK. Maybe after Bernhardt. Her wealthy father, Lord Blueblood, was a huge fan??) anyway (and I know that I’m doing something odd here but that parenthetical was too long and without that anyway outside the continuity was totally screwy. But I committed 200% to the parentheticals here. As you can see. That’s why there’s so many of them.) ANYWAY FRIEND SARAH has a huge dowry, but won’t settle on a suitor because she’s really in love with her friend, Eunice, the widow. 100k words. Edwardian fic.

Marthe Bibesco and Gertrude Elizabeth Blood. And it’s kind of hilarious to me how their actual bios echo the backstory you provided.

There’s a poe party secret Santa? Damn I missed out

There is! It was/is being organized by @roxymoron101. We’re past the signup deadline, but maybe it’s possible to sneak you in after the fact? Not sure how that would work, or if there would be issues. I guess at a minimum we’d need to find a giftee for you, and a santa who’d prepare a gift for you, and having it happen after the fact like this would potentially undercut the whole secrecy part.

But I don’t know; maybe she’ll weigh in on that.

In the meantime, please accept seasonal Poe Party greetings, from one non-secret fan to another.

Hi there! It’s your Poe party secret santa! Sorry I havent sent anything these past few days, I’ve been swamped with school. Anyways, I watched the video you included in one of the previous asks and enjoyed hearing your thoughts about the book. The location of the videos was quite lovely as well. As for your gift, is there anything a certain type of gift you want? If so, please let me know!

Sunday, November 27th, 2016

I’m quite flexible as to what sort of creation you create; I’m sure I’ll be excited with anything. I assume you got my prompt, which was “Edgar’s truest friend”; how you interpret that is also completely up to you. I made it somewhat vague, I realize, but I hope that gives you room to do something that you find enjoyable.

Thank you for your nice comments about the video. It is lovely here; I just got back from a long walk during which I leveled up in Pokemon in the midst of ridiculously pretty scenery.

I hope your holiday season (if this is a holiday season for you) is going well. Talk to you later!
