It’s the final sprint for the Leg 1 finish, and while Dongfeng, Brunel, and Vestas have kept the pressure on, ADOR has been able to hold them off.

It looks like all seven boats are in good wind tonight. The second wind image above shows ADOR’s position projected forward 24 hours (assuming they average 20 knots), with the wind model advanced the same amount. If the model is accurate, it looks like the four leaders, at least, have a chance of riding the trough that’s pushing them most of the way to Cape Town. But if the system outruns them and leaves a big patch of light wind over the finish line, any of those four boats have a shot at winning.

But if you’re putting money on it, put it on Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing. Those guys are too good.
