Tags: maybe?, children of men, and honestly, love this movie, this shot is a little goofy-looking, mainly because that sea state clearly shows, they're in a smallish space, with localized waves being reflected all about, rather than out at the buoy they're supposed to be at, but that's a very tiny failing, in a beautifully powerful moment in the story, I don't know how you'd ever make a movie with anatomically correct ocean in it, to the eyes of someone who really knows, for any kind of reasonable budget, i don't think i've ever seen one, and i look for it every time, the truth about spring, though i watched that in the throes of my first celebrity crush, so i may have been cutting it unwarranted slack, if you've read all these tags, hoping for the name of _this_ movie, you have my respect and admiration, also my pity, because you haven't seen it, or at least not enough to know this shot immediately. Tags: but you know, and honestly, she was my favorite part of ghostbusters, which I just got back from, and liked way more than I was expecting, I was cautiously optimistic, movies have let me down before, and some reviews had been tepid, but while sure, some of it was maybe a little slow/awkward in the middle bits, it ended strong, unlike the original, which I've always thought lost a little steam in the late going, if a reviewer is looking at its flaws, and not recognizing what it's doing well, and actually at times doing fabulously, then that reviewer is not one whose views, I need to be guided by. Tags: good stuff, side note: someone in a different online venue, implied that I support obama unquestioningly, which if you wanted to read back through my history of politics blogging, is a pretty amusing misperception, not that anyone should or would do that, since it would require digging into my (extensive) online footprint that predates tumblr, and honestly, who has time for that?, but even if there are things about obama's conduct as president, that cause me grave concern, *cough* guantanamo, *cough* drone killings, *cough* pervasive surveillance without meaningful oversight, it still gives me a moment of joy, when he gets something like this right, so here's to tiny symbolic progress.
