rainbowrowell:

Today I gave my editor Sara the Eleanor & Park tour of Omaha. We basically went on the date Eleanor and Park have in the book …

The top photo is the elementary school where Eleanor and Park kiss in the snow, in the drug-free zone.

Top right is the bar where her stepdad gets his rage on.

The blue house is the house that I used as a model for Park’s house. It’s where my friend Scott used to live.

The other row of houses is the street I used for Eleanor’s street.

There’s the ice cream shop and the pizza place, and the park where they sit and talk about geese and prom and whether Asian guys are hot.

And of course Drastic Plastic, which is a real record store.

I have a thing for real-world/fictional-world intersections. I mean, I may at one point have figured out from a small reflection in the window of a transmedia post for LBD where the Pemberley Digital episodes were shot, and visited there just so I could stand outside and take a selfie with the same building in the background as you can see in those episodes. (And then never actually posted the resulting image because I couldn’t tell if it would actually make me seem creepy and weird, and if I’ve learned one thing from my time on Tumblr it’s that if I am having second thoughts about whether something I’m about to do will make me seem creepy and weird it’s pretty much a foregone conclusion that yes, it’s going to do exactly that.)

(Sigh. By which standard, this post already qualifies. So just pretend I didn’t just say that. Thanks.)

But I mention it anyway, because it might help explain why the photoset above, and especially Rainbow’s captions, just completely make my day.
