SARS coronavirus, another sculpture by Luke Jerram.
When this guy broke out, it was a big to-do. It’s genetic code (just RNA in this one) was sequenced with incredible urgency, due to how it was causing so much sickness in 2003.
“Coronavirus” comes from the Spanish word “corona,” meaning “crown.” It refers to how the virus resembles a crown, with the protruding tongs appearing to radiate out from the virus.
