Cindy Sheehan

I haven’t mentioned the Cindy Sheehan protest going on outside the Bush ranch; haven’t really had time to pay much attention, and I don’t watch much TV, where it seems to have been happening in a big way. But in coming across these collected news photos from cryptome.org, I got an idea of what a big deal this is turning into: Eyeballing the Bush ranch protest. And see this video of Cindy Sheehan talking (virtually) to Bush, if you’ve managed to miss it so far, for the full effect: QuickTime video.

I also liked this thoughtful item from Jeanne of Body and Soul: Claudette Colvin, Cindy Sheehan, and us.

While I have a lot of sympathy for Mrs. Sheehan on a personal level, I can’t help but feel like this is the biggest non-story since that Marine shot Terry Shiavo in that Mosque in Iraq. Even if I have sympathy for her views on the war, which I do to a greater and greater degree as time goes on, I can’t figure out what she really wants, except an opportunity to yell and scream at the President. She’s already met the man once, and (as I fear the video shows too well,) she really doesn’t have enough to say to warrant a second chance, as far I’m concerned, anyway.

She wants to hear directly from the president, “What noble cause did my son die for?”. Fair question given the fact that the reason for this war changes with the weather.

She also wants to ask him about his current policy in Iraq, which is “stay the course”. Is that a policy? I don’t know. Hasn’t been workin’ out to well though. Maybe time for a policy change. But wait, then the terrorisits will have won!! Like they’re not already.

    “Bring it on”
