Time on Wikipedia

From Time magazine, a piece on wikis, in particular Wikipedia and its founder, Jimbo Wales: It’s a wiki, wiki world.

I was saying to Hiro the other day that Wikipedia had recently crossed some sort of threshhold into mind-boggling usefulness, and that I was thinking of switching from Google to Wikipedia as my browser’s default startup page.

Yeah, I always thought of wikipedia as a nice idea and a great ideal, but ultimately doomed to a poor signal to noise ratio or just neglect. But it seems like the system they’ve set up somehow does a great job of encouraging lots of information with high quality. Neat.
