cvlifornia-vibes:

so cal vibes

From 5th grade until 12th grade, this was my home town.

Staying there though 12th grade took some work on my part. And with actual work being something I was unfamiliar with going into 12th grade, it feels like a significant accomplishment when I look back on it.

It’s not that managing to stay in my bastion of mostly unrecognized white privilege one more year after my dad moved away was in any sense a noble cause. But it was something — probably the first thing — that I undertook to do as an independent person and actually, albeit imperfectly, pulled off. Despite all the ways I screwed up my senior year (and there were lots of them, including dropping out two weeks before graduation), and despite all the rampant immaturity that I see in almost everything I did back then and for many years to come, I think that was my first real step toward adulthood.

“Being a woman is kind of like being a cyclist in a city where all the cars represent men. You’re supposed to be able to share the road equally with cars, but that’s not how it works. The roads are built for cars and you spend a great deal of physical and mental energy being defensive and trying not to get hurt. Some of the cars WANT you to get hurt. They think you don’t have any place on the road at all. And if you do get hurt by a car, everyone makes excuses that it’s your fault.”

windandwater:

Out of doubt, out of dark to the day’s rising,
I came singing in the sun, sword unsheathing.
To hope’s end I rode and to heart’s breaking:
Now for wrath, now for ruin and a red nightfall!

—J.R.R. Tolkien, The Return of the King, Book 5, Chapter 6

Oh wow. I… can’t even find anything to nitpick in this one.

I actually adore ‘A Tell Tale Vlog’. Can we be pen pals or something? How do we set this up?

We’re in LA; let us know if you tire of Thornfield Hall and make it out to California anytime soon. We’re wrapping up A Tell Tale Vlog but we’ve got new projects in the works and are always on the lookout for fun collabs.

Vidcon2014 it is.

We’ll see you in Anaheim.

Yep. I ship it.

My coworker crossed the library just to show this to me.

Heh. It took me a minute to guess what the actual title was.
