The Omnibus

David Scott

During the Victorian era, the first methods of public transport became popular- trains and horse- drawn carriages (sometimes called ‘omnibuses) were used by people of all social standings. This paintings shows a poor mother with her children sitting next to a fairly well-off young lady,

This is actually by George William Joy and painted in 1895, although has been wrongly attributed on Wikipedia and other sites to David Scott, who was working in the first half of the nineteenth century.
