Yeah, most members of the group apparently are largely nocturnal feeders. Black-crowned night herons roost during the day, then fly out to feed in the evening going Kwok! Which always cracks me up.

And yeah, according to Sibley yellow-crowned also mostly forages at night. I’ve always seen them during the day, but they’re usually just skulking quietly waiting for it to get dark.
