Kevin Drum: Things We Can Count On In the Next Two Years

Kevin Drum: Things We Can Count On In the Next Two Years:

Kevin Drum is usually pretty good at giving a clear-eyed look based on an unapologetically liberal but pragmatic point of view. If he has a bias it’s toward normalcy: things that others are freaking out about probably aren’t as freaky as they seem to be at the moment. (A notable exception was Trump’s normalization in the media, which drove him nuts. But after posting about that he’d go right back to the wonky charts and graphs.)

If he’d been blogging from the Titanic I expect he’d have been calmly pointing out the problem of available lifeboat room well before others were. But he might also have been reporting on deck chair slide velocity as the final plunge was happening. He just doesn’t do excitement, mostly.

This is a good example. In a lot of ways I’m still in freak-out mode. Kevin is on to policy prediction. It’s worth reading.
