I had a boss like this for about four months, which was how long it took for me to get another job. I was very lucky that the other opportunity came along.
I tried working with the situation, tried getting transferred to another manager, tried ignoring the awful parts and just keeping my head down. None of that helped. The only thing that helped was quitting. Until I had my exit mapped out, though, it was horrifically stressful in ways I wouldn’t have believed if I wasn’t living through it.
