Oh man. This reminds me of one of my most cringe-worthy memories from college. I’m pretty sure I’ve shared it before, though possibly not on tumblr.

Basically, I was Will, Izzy was the person in my political theory seminar I had a huge crush on, and peak cringe was achieved when she’d been missing from class one day, so I’d filled up my notes with lots of rambling about how the person with the great smile I’d never gotten up the nerve to actually talk to wasn’t in class that day (mixed in with roughly equal amounts of stuff about Hobbes or Locke or whatever it was we were actually talking about). Which wasn’t unusual, in that all my notes for that seminar had been roughly equal portions actual notes along with commentary and speculation about the object of my crush.

And then she was back at the next class, which was great, until after class when she came up to me and smiled (!!!) and asked if she could ask me a big favor.

So I gulped and tried to smile back and said sure, of course.

And she said, “Well, you see, I missed class on Wednesday, and I notice you always take really good notes, so I was hoping maybe I could borrow yours so I could see what I missed.”
