Tags: and this painting, the getty, lawrence alma-tadema, alma-tadema, spring, halloweden mentioned buying a print of this on her last trip to the getty, it's pretty amazing, i'm enjoying lippincott's book, it's such a fascinating story about art and empire, the way alma-tadema came into and then fell out of fashion, and now, with some perspective, has become popular again, really gets to the heart of that, such a richly imagined, but completely fictional world.
