I hadn’t thought of that. But you make a good point.

Personally I’ve never cared about the planet/not a planet controversy. It strikes me as an arbitrary taxonomy change, like when the AOU merged the Audubon’s and Myrtle Warblers into Yellow-rumped. The thing itself hasn’t changed. It’s still an amazing and beautiful mystery, no matter how we choose to classify it.

And in the case of Pluto, it’s set to become even more awesomely mysterious, because of the way expanded knowledge creates a larger perimeter between it and the unknown.

Can’t wait!
