Tags: it's weird looking back on it, because I obviously loved lbd, and the lydia bennet always felt like it was in some sense conceived as a lesser spin-off work, with the reduced production values, and the all-in-one-take stuff, and the existing mostly outside austen!canon, but then MK and Briana and Rosie and Laura and Wes and Rachel and maybe Bernie?, and I'm not sure who else, pulled off this exciting and subversive thing, where they let the spirit of that character, as summed up perfectly in that quote, guide their creation, and the result was something that felt real, and important, and fragile, and vulnerable, and had a greater effect on me, and has stayed with me longer, than the main show.
