even if you’re not australian, this is important.

This is excellent and important. 

And I might mention that in our Orwellian nation, where refugees are called “queue jumpers” and “illegals”, I have a specific problem with the term “detention centre”. One can detain someone for days, or for health quarantine reasons plausibly for some weeks; but beyond that, it is imprisonment, plain and simple.
