PSA:
Having reblogged this, I feel compelled to mention that on further investigation the creator of the test comes off as something of a crank. He appears to lack formal training in psychology; his main area of expertise appears to be C++ programming, though he’s also interested in computer-based leaning, computer models of biological systems, chess, and weather.
Oh, and he describes himself as a climate change “skeptic”. All of which sounds like someone who is largely self-educated, and willing to apply expertise acquired in one field to other fields without paying too much attention to what people with actual expertise in those other fields think.
So yeah; the test is fun, and presumably is measuring something, but you probably shouldn’t read too much into how Glen Rowe characterizes the meaning of the results.
So, on further investigation, I was a doofus, too. Yes, Glen Rowe is a climate change denier, but he wasn’t the creator of the test; he merely put a version of it online. Simon Baron-Cohen, the person who created the test, actually does know what he’s talking about. More at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simon_Baron-Cohen
I deleted my rant, but not before one of my cherished followers had reblogged it. And so the cycle of Tumblr misinformation spins on, unstoppable…
Sorry about that.
