neither-saint-nor-sinner: Revelations. What I liked most about…

neither-saint-nor-sinner:

Revelations.

What I liked most about today’s episode, even more than the high-five, was the tone. More than the actual lines being delivered, it was how they were delivered. It was really comforting to see Lydia visibly healing after everything she went through, and to see her and Lizzie in a place where they could be loving and supportive of each other.

The explanation (such as it was) for the sex-tape site’s takedown felt a little glib, but maybe that will be fleshed out at some point in the upcoming six episodes.

I’m guessing (especially after seeing MK’s post today) that this will not be the absolute last Lydia appearance, but it’s probably going to be the last Rachel-written episode, and the last episode to really focus on Lydia. Assuming the lobbying effort to get more Lydia videos doesn’t pan out, this is probably pretty much it in terms of Lydia’s arc. She’s not all the way back, but she’s in a much better place than she was, and the upward trajectory is there. So for me, this feels like an okay place to say goodbye to her.

All these last episodes, with the Jane goodbye, and now this Lydia almost-goodbye, are bittersweet. But I have a good feeling about these last few shows. I put myself in the hands of these writers and actors a long time ago, and despite the criticisms that can be made of some of the storytelling choices, I think they’ve treated me really well. I’ve enjoyed the ride, and I’m looking forward to the last six episodes.
