Mac Word Entomology

From Rick Schaut, a programmer at Microsoft (I think), comes this interesting account of an ongoing effort to solve a problem in (the Mac version of) Word: Anatomy of a software bug.

I call the account “interesting,” but you should realize that I have a higher-than-normal interest in the subject of the human behavior of software developers. So YMMV, and all that.

TANSTAAFL. A/S/L? ROFLMAO.

Sigh.

It took me 5 min. to recall that TANSTAAFL means ‘There ain’t no such thing as a free lunch.’
    A/S/L, I cannot decipher.
The article is interesting, but no ROFLMAO.

Oh, sorry. A/S/L? is a common query in chatrooms, where you are inquiring as to the other participant’s “age/sex/location”.

I wasn’t trying to say that the linked-to piece was laugh-out-loud funny. I was just mocking my own use of YMMV with a few more randomly selected nerdy acronyms.
