Natalie Maines Pisses People Off Again

I didn’t watch the Academy of Country Music awards the other night (!), so I was spared what apparently was a wall-to-wall display of feel-good (if relatively mindless) patriotism. But I’m sorry I missed the part where the Dixie Chicks appeared via video from an Austin concert, and were booed in response to Natalie Maines’ teeshirt reading “F.U.T.K.”, which expands to “Fuck You Toby Keith.”

Heh. See this item from Top40-charts.com for more on the Maines/Keith thing.

In case you were wondering, I first came across a mention of this in the permalink-challenged Dizzy Girl weblog, which I was reading because its name caught my eye as I was scanning through the list of losers (most of whom outrank lies.com) at The Truth Laid Bear’s Blogosphere Ecosystem. The reason it caught my eye is that Dizzy Girl is the title of the first song on the really fabulous first (and only?) CD from a 90’s San Francisco band called The Rosemarys, that CD having been my favorite listening for the last few weeks since I heard it on grrl.com’s Grrl Radio.

So. Now you know everything.

    THE DIXIE TWITS

Yes the Dixie Twits have the right of FREE Speech in the USA, as Maines has pointed out to the U.S. public so many times. However, being from Texas I can understand why her geography is a little off, they were in England, and not in the USA at the time of her Anti-Bush statement..

However, as sales plummeted in the USA, sales of their CD’s have increased in Europe.. raising another question.? Was their timely bash against the President, Nationalism and America for profit??

What I mean is.. was their statement made to sell more CD’s overseas, where Anti-American sentiments are the fashion now..??

If there is a dividing line between liberty and license, it is where freedom of speech is no longer respected as a procedure of the truth and becomes the unrestricted right to exploit the ignorance, and to excite the passions, of the people. Then freedom is such a hullabaloo of sophistry, propaganda, special pleading, lobbying, and salesmanship that it is difficult to remember why freedom of speech is worth the pain and trouble of defending it.

Natalie Maines clearly used her fame and notoriety to exploit the ignorance, and to excite the passions, of the people for personal gain.

My personal opinion is that Natalie Maines used her influence and the European Anti-American sentiments to boost the Dixie Chicks sales overseas at the expense of the U.S. Presidency, American Nationalism and American Pride.

I am Anti-War, however I am an American citizen first. Natalie Maines actions is of an immature, ignorant young lady who has no respect for her fans, proven by here half hearted apologizes to the public and the President.

  4. ymatt Says:

For crissakes, I’m way tired of this Dixie Chicks crap, but seriously: if you’re a big fan of Bush and you want to link your music purchasing decisions to the political leanings of the artists you listen to, go right ahead. But please stop painting this as some issue where all good Americans need to rally behind the cause of slamming these horrible anti-American harpies. I recently went to a concert (here in Texas) where the guy on stage made some vague reference to the Dixie Chicks and suddenly the crowd around me turned into a howling sea of slavering animals. It scared the crap out of me.

And there is absolutely no way that a country music star could possibly think that saying anything even vaguely or superficially anti-american (and superficial it is in this case since being anti-bush has exactly nothing to do with being anti-american) could be considered a good career move.

  5. James Says:

ymatt, aaaagh, your probably correct.. Natalie Maines isn’t that dam smart to think up such a scheme..

As far as buying her music, that squeaking, irritable voice.. please.. Nothing to do with her views.. I just don’t like Fat Texas trailer trash.

  6. Sickles Says:

    FREEDOM OF SPEECH:

Natalie and here ability to use her FREEDOM OF SPEECH has somehow developed FOOT MOUTH DISEASE in the process.

I just find the girl, rude, insincere, fat, stupid and has a squeaky voice who can’t sign worth a dam.

I can’t figure out how she made it this far.

Thank God we live in a country that offers us the Freedoms we now enjoy.. it’s just to dam bad that some people feel the need to “push” these views on young impressionable fans..

..she opened herself to criticism, so why is she so resentful when others use their right of FREE SPEECH to dog her..

    F.U.N.M. :O)

  7. Yuri Says:

Next time the Dixie Chicks (Natalie Maines) leaves the country to tour.. make it a one way ticket please.

  8. Chuck Tyler Says:

Dixie Twits, er, I mean Dixie Chicks

Ah, those Dixie Twits, er, I mean Dixie Chicks…

Thanks to an impassioned outburst during a concert in London by lead singer Natalie Mange, uh, I mean Natalie Maines, the country singing group have been banished from rotation in hundreds of country radio stations across America, and the opening concert of their tour is threatened by a counter-concert being organized by talk show icon Mike Gallagher.

No sales, no songs, and quite possibly, no shows. All for invoking their First Amendment right to free speech in a foreign country.

I wonder if Natalie thought of the consequences of her actions.

I wonder if anyone whining about the war understands that as an American, yes, you DO have the precious right to speak freely, without inciting a riot.

But it seems as though, in this post-Clinton, post-Enron era of free Willie from perjury and free wills without responsibility, that those who speak should also be prepared to listen.

Natalie, listen to the silent register rings for “Home” or “Top of the World” concert tickets.

Michael Moore, listen to the silence of the empty movie theatre seats of your next movie.

Yes, you do have the precious right to speak freely, without inciting a riot.

But please, be prepared for the freedom of choice other Americans have as to how they perceive your message, and respond to it.

Don’t whine about the effects of your whining.

It makes you sound like you’re just whistling Dixie.

  9. ymatt Says:

See no, they’re not whining. They’re being called traitors and little anti-American bitches — purely because they expressed disapproval for the President. Is Bush suddenly the King of American, above all criticism?

Personally I wouldn’t listen to a Dixie Chicks album if you paid me because I can’t stand their music, but people just sound like complete morons when they spout off about this. Look a few lines up: “Next time the Dixie Chicks (Natalie Maines) leaves the country to tour.. make it a one way ticket please.” Fantastic idea. We’ll just ship off anybody who thinks the current administration isn’t serving America’s best interests.

Furthermore, every person who thinks it’s devilishly clever to refer to them as Dixie Sluts or Dixie Twits comes off like their sense of humor, if not other mental faculties, were frozen at around 5th grade. Maybe you should try flicking booger at them.

  10. Yeah, Dude.!! Says:

“people just sound like complete morons when they spout off about this;” like your doing ;O)

  11. Justin Lindner Says:

The Dixie Chicks ARE free to make whatever statments they choose according to their rights as a U.S. citizen. However, they are NOT free from the consequenses that result from making those statements! Whether you believe this or not doesn’t change the fact that it’s truth.

  12. Mike Jandrok Says:

It continually amazes me to find that people have absolutely no tolerance for viewpoints that they don’t agree with. Maines expressed an opinion, nothing more more, nothing less. Her viewpoint was ill-timed and inappropriate in context, but it was her statement and she at least has had the guts to stand her ground against the criticism. That’s to be expected from a good Texas gal. I’d be more disappointed in her if she had backtracked completely from the situation. From the F.U.T.K. shirt, it looks to me like she still has some fightin’ spirit. I’d take a Chick’s album any day over the jingoistic (big word, look it up) claptrap that the likes of Toby Keith serve up regularly. Here’s a thought, next time someone makes a statement you don’t agree with, that’s tough! Deal with it! Try thinking instead of blindly reacting. Chick’s rule, baybeeeeee!!!! We still love ya in Austin, Natalie!

  13. Jen Says:

    Here’s an idea…

Tell Maines to burn her FUTK shirt the minute WPDs are found in Iraq.

    Long live freedom of speech.

    God Bless the Dixie Chicks.

  14. Tim Says:

By the way, Toby Keith has been projecting enormous photographs at his concerts DOCTORED TO SHOW THE DIXIE CHICKS STANDING NEXT TO SADDAM HUSSEIN. Apparently everyone is ok with that. If I were Maines, I’d be angry too. I say good for her. F.U.T.K. And if you people think it’s ok for him to express his “freedom of speech” and yet not ok for her to, then F.U.2

  15. O.K. Says:

Go Dixie Chick’s I agree, the U.S. President sucks, America sucks and should keep out of other peoples business.. I would buy a Dixie Chick CD..

Down with America, and as the Euro grows, the USD falls, the USA hits the all time high deficit.. ha ha ha.. hay, this is your Freedom of Speech..

…here in France we will put a boot up Toby Keith’s Ass.. you fucking red necks and defending your Freedom of Speech..

You don’t have Freedom of Speech, otherwise, you could say you agree with Bin Laden, and the United States should get the F outta middle east.

The Dixie Chicks got it right, your President Bush sucks, America Sucks!!

    Fuck losers.

  16. Aaron Says:

I think that that gay “ok” guy ought to be shot. F!@# You, “OK” The fat ass Natalie Maines was wrong for wearing that shirt. She started the whole mess in the first place. If you write a song that is a truly patriotic song and also dedicated to Toby’s father, why the hell mess with it. If thats so bad, she should shut her fat ugly yap. What about that Goodbye Earl? That is 20 times worse than Toby’s song. and it isn’t patriotic either. Hey “ok” instead of getting fat and lazy on your computer, why don’t you go make love to Saddam Hussein, you dickhead. Quit brown nosing The dixie twits and get a life. Your just jealous because you french assholes aren’t as good as us americans. Screw French Fries, I love freedom fries!!!!!!!

  17. John Says:

I don’t like the Dixie Chicks music, but let’s not kid ourselves. We can say what we want in this country, but we’re not “free” to say it. But “free”, I mean without consequences. All she did was state an opinion that is shared by man, MANY Americans, you’ll see that if you turn off Fox News and tune into reality. There’s nothing wrong with not liking a President. If you’re against the man, what he stands for, his opinions, what he’s done in his past, what he does now, you should not HAVE to support him. That’s ignorance and that’s being a sheep.

I think Natalie’s apology was lame, but I say that because she shouldn’t have to apologize, it won’t change anything. It’s not like anyone is going to believe that she likes Bush now. She doesn’t like him, apologizing won’t change that. Anyone who thinks an apology will fix anything is blind and dumb. And she said it in another country, yet is being punished in this one. And don’t believe the fake stories about how their sales went down. Check Billboard’s numbers, their CD stayed at Number 1, in fact, their sales went up! The only backlash was radio stations that stopped playing their songs. Their tour sold out, their album sales were steady, the only thing that was negative was the distorted picture that was painted on television.

But I’ll say it again, I’ve never bought a Dixie Chicks CD and I never will, I don’t like their music. But Toby Keith represents ALL that is wrong with America. Ignorance, Intolerance and Idiotic. He’s a classic redneck. His lyrics are tired and repetitive and show the signs of a man who is afraid to step outside of his country. If you spend any time outside of the U.S., you’ll learn to not only appreciate the U.S., but you’ll learn to appreciate the rest of the world. This “Ra-Ra” flag-waving, “God Bless the USA” crap is embarrassing. How can we be upset that other countries hate us if we’re constantly claiming that we’re number 1 and that God blesses us.

And remember, people in other countries don’t hate us personally, they hate our culture that’s been created by our media and government. When countries and terrorists speak poorly of America, they don’t mean you and I, they mean our politicians, our government, because we, as a people, haven’t done anything to them. They know this, but the media portrays it as hate for us as Americans.

When asked how Hitler got so popular in Germany, one of the leaders of the Nazi party said, “The best way to get your country to support a war is to convince them that they are in danger and question their patriotism if they don’t support the war.” Sound familiar?

Toby Keith’s music sucks and so does his completely ignorant attitude. If you haven’t stepped outside of your familiar surroundings, then you have no choice but to be labeled ignorant. He is unqualified to make any opinions about other countries and ways of life.

I love this country, but I really don’t like what’s happening to it right now. I worry for us and our future.

  18. JOHN Says:

    I’m Canadian.

Now that about 70 percent of you americans have stopped reading my comment, I might as well continue out of my gratitude for the rest of your interests.

I believe that both Keith and the Chix love their country. I love my country, and I’m not fond of our current government more than half of the time.

As to the arguement on who is the honorable artist between Natalie and Toby, I like most in the beginning thought Natalie’s display to be immature and crude, not to mention uncalled for.

But what about Keith’s latest hit, something about bringing back the death penalty for petty and undefined crimes-as well as the dictating government of fear that comes with it. Come on now, If I where an American, would those be the kind of freedom loving civilians I would want to be living with? To go back to a time when freedom of speech and opinion could have you killed and displayed to the public?

I do not support displays like that of the Chix in any way, nor any anti-american protest, especially those who do little research before they speak. That being said, If a man like Toby Keith, along with his latest opinions-of course, has been chosen as one of the most credible for representing the USA of today, I think I’m glade Canada did not support the States in their latest “Occupation”.

TRY TO SEE PAST MY SPELLING ERRORS!

  19. Linn Says:

I won’t buy toby keith music or dixie chicks because they are both acting like big oh babies. What they need to do is come together and show unity and pride. I think toby keith is arogant and is no better than the next person and the same goes for natelie.

  20. susan Says:

Dixie cat twits. Never liked them never will. Twangy grating cat bitch music. They are not american nor are they singers. Go Toby and Natalie, your baby will be your payback. It will be an ugly screaming brat like you. I hope people stop buying their music and products.

  21. Jeffery Price Says:

I don’t give a flip about the row between the Chick and Toby Keith, but I must say that ignorance is the dominant force in today’s opinions being batted around. Yeah, opinions are like a$$holes, etc. And here’s mine: Natalie Maines and many more like her would be dismissed as easliy as a foul-smelling pile of poo were it not for her celebrity status. When was the last time any of us had the opportunity to speak to a large audience of people? Free Speech affords them the opportunity to do something great and they have taken their power for granted and failed to do anything but expose their ignorance and stupidty. I am currently serving in the Army, and I was PERSONALLY offended by this stupid bitch, as I felt she betrayed her country, and it’s interests. I’m tired of being so concerned about pleasing every other country except our own. I’m sick and tied of people like her (remember Jane Fonda’s ‘free speech’ actions furing the Vietnam War?) making flippant remarks that are deeply offensive and utterly disrespectful to the men and women in the armed forces who dod not ask to do anything other than serve their country. I have issues about the government’s interests like anyone else. However, when did it become OK to support a thoroughly evil man and all his efforts at the expense of our own people and our own leadership? I would like to revoke this c*nt’s citizenship and send her off to an Islamic country where they’d require herto cover that smug stupid bitch face and sew her ‘you-know-what’ closed. I wonder what she would think of the Americans then, when they come and liberate her then… I am so pissed about her and refuse to ever let her twangy cat-bitchy voice ever warble through my ears again. I hate that bitch!!

  24. Jenny Says:

Natalie Maines represents exactly what a democracy stands for. If we were to all follow our leaders blindly, we would would one, never have new leaders, and two, be led to war ( oops..that’s already happened). I mean, why are people so aragant and narrow minded that they

can’t accept the truth, and that is that we are being led by a failing administration. Maines is one of the few left artists who actually have the guts to speak their minds and not fear the consequences. She made her comments in London, because people there are less aragant and more citical.

The haters simply don’t like the truth comming from Natalie’s mouth.

Dixie Chicks Rock. Their Music Rocks. And most of all, Natalie Rocks!!!!

It’s a shame that american don’t have the balls to see the truth, and instead choose to adopt a mob mentality and bully every one who chooses to speak out and voice their opinions.

  35. Laura Shirreff Says:

I’d just like to say that I was at the concert when Natalie made those comments. I was stood 6 feet from her and not only heard all she said but also the emotion she expressed.

This has all blown up from an out-of-context comment that was picked up on from an English review on the web.

Yes she voice HER opinion against the President, isn’t that her right? She also talked of her concern and admiration for the troops going into war. She felt, like many others, that all possibilities had not been explored fully before the decision for war was made.

I appreciated that the situation was aggrivated by the fact that Natalie made her comments on foreign soil but where is it stated that freedom of speech is limited to be expressed within ones own country. Surely it is the speech not the surroundings that are the issue.

I am not aware of a transcript of her comments in their entirety but believe me, she was speaking with compassion and support for her country and fellow man, her family and friends…Having the right to vote gives us the chance to follow through on our opinions..we do not have to agree with the result.

She is not a traitor and is certainly not supporting the opposition, that’s a ludicrous statement to make.

I am not American so I obviously cannot take a patriotic view here but if the press had reported less briefly, things would be very different I’m sure.

    Laura

  36. Jack Sommersby Says:

Yep, an American citizen like the beautiful and talented Natalie Maines speaks her mind in protest of this illegal, unnecessary war in Iraq and gets criticized, yet a president who blatantly lies about the rationale for engaging in war with Iraq (that they were an imminent danger to the U.S. by supposedly possessing WMD), has our troops forgo mandatory pre-deployment exams, and has his administration blow the cover of a CIA operative whose husband went public that the administration knew the Niger/uranium claim Bush made in his State of the Union address was bogus, and nary a voice of outrage.

    Pathetic.

  42. Laura Says:

Anti-American? We had all paid good money to see 3 American girls…We didn’t need a political speech to have a good time as it’s about the music.

People worldwide may be anti George Bush but that doesn’t make tham anti-american, I do not believe that it is the president that makes the country it’s the broad population within. Democracy gives everyone the right to an opinion, public or otherwise.

  43. Bill Sanz Says:

Democracy gives everyone inalienable rights. I do not agree with Natalie’s views but defend her right to say them. By the same token, I like the chics music but will not buy another CD from them. There are numerous performers I prefer musically and do not feel compelled to put money in Natalie’s pockets. She made the statements, apologized for her comments, trashed Toby, and didn’t apologize, posed with someone else’s nude body on a magazine cover. All for some deep seeded political view? Ask the GI who served in Iraq if he thinks he’s done the world a service. My nephew is proud of the work he did in Iraq liberating millions from a brutal dictator. I don’t think there is much more than a few Hi-C’s going through Natalie’s brain. If she actually would stop and ask a serviceman something, she might get somewhere. I am ashamed that Natalie is from Texas. That’s my two cents worth on this topic! You don’t have to buy my CD if you don’t like my comments.

  45. Rollin Crabb Says:

All Nattie needs to straighten her out is a real man (like Toby) who can lay some serious pipe on her fat ass. Two much lickety-split with the other two has caused her to have a brain-fart. Overall she might be able to regain mediocrity as maybe a tap-dancer in Manila.

  46. iHaTeMySeLf Says:

I think Natalie Maines is beautiful, talented, and sweet. I’ll admit I think certain things said by both parties shouldn’t have been said. But if you think about it’s good because other countries are going to see the conflict we have on American soil and they won’t put some passive-agressive stereotype on Americans in general. The fact that you view something one way and another views it differently keeps a balance in the system prohibiting silence and lack of consent for our government to do or not do something we feel should(n’t) be done. I admire Keith’s patriotism but the Chicks have it too except in a more obscure manner. They, afterall, never said they were ashamed of America, just the Commander-in-Chief. I am obviously biased because I love The Chicks’ music and never really listened to Keith, although I really should.

  47. Stella Baird Says:

Natalie Maines is married to a Moslem. To be married to a Moslem, she has to convert to Mohamidism. This explains a lot. She may be rebelling to the Koran edict “women are your fields, enter them often” which shows her place in Mosleem life. It’s a hard row to how, going from respected entertainer to a sex toy for her husband and his friends. Anyway, she has disgraced herself, her profession, her country, and humanity in general. Hope she’s right about Allah, because God might just slam dunk her.

Nat needs to grow up a little. She has the right to say whatever she wants but she shouldnt cry whenever what she says gets her fired! Its called responsibility for your actions. I could give a shit less about what she said. Toby Kieth is a great artist. He doenst have to lower himself to their level. Look at the record charts for gods sake. Who is selling more records?

In my opinion Nat can say whatever the hell she wants. I am in the US Marines and I fight every day so that people like her can bash me. Im fine with that. Some people are just ignorant of what is really going on and they feel the need to create a public outcry because they feel like they need some attention. SOunds like a case of the “daddy didnt love me’s” to me. So she can go on and talk all she wants. Its just words. Im going to continue to fight for what I believe in and let her feel comfortable under the blanket of freedom that I provide.

    F.U.N.M.
But say what you wish. I gave you that right.

  50. Xiala Says:

Blindly following a President is just as unpatriotic as it gets. Just because Natalie doesn’t like the President, doesn’t mean that she doesn’t have love for her country and the troops.
As far as I’m concerned, anyone who has a problem with someone in this country speaking their mind should move somewhere else.

  51. Billy Says:

I think it’s terrible how Natalie sings “Travelling Soldier” about Bin Laden. She has disgraced America and should be deported. Her citizenship should be revoked. She needs some of that Iraq Prison treatment along with the other twats who let her ruin their group.

  52. Ricky Says:

How much time have the Dixie Twats spent in uniform? I say none, none. There are talkers and doers. The Dixie Twats are talkers. Maybe they were abused by lesbians when they were growing up, but it’s no excuse. Happy Hajj, Natalie, your Bagala awaits.

About as much time as Bush, Jr., Cheney, and Rove spent in Vietnam.

I just found this article and find it hilarious how people bash the Dixie Chicks about their singing ability and then praise Toby Keith… one of the worst fucking country singers I’ve ever heard in my life. If that worthless shit hadn’t draped himself in the American flag, I like to think he’d have finally been exposed as the fraud he is.

As a Conservative and a 20 year U.S. Military Veteran I have absolutely no problem with what Natalie Maines said. What I have a problem with is where she said it and to whom she said it. She recently gave an indepth interview, saying basically the same thing, to a German Magazine. I feel her choices of venu are very unwise and either the acts of an undisciplined young lady or deliberate acts to improve her image in Europe.

I’ve seen a lot of bashing here regarding those who are upset with Natalie. Keep in mind, these are people exercising their right of free speech within the United States. Natalie and the Dixie Chicks are paying a price for their free speech, these are the consequences of speaking your mind no matter who and where you are.

I have exercised my right to not purchase Dixie Chicks Albums or listen to their music on a Radio Station. That IS my right of freedom of choice.

I’m also Canadian, and I gotta say this whole thing really bothers me. For anyone to say that what that girl did was a stunt to generate sales is ridiculous. Anyone with even half a brain would have known that there was going to be a negative consequence to such a comment. No increase in sales overseas could have been worth the loss of sales in America. Natalie was clearly expressing her opinion, one which many people around the world share. How can you people justify insulting someone for having anti-war sentiments? Not everyone in this world is a supporter of violence and war, no matter why it’s being done.

I’m sure Natalie had a number of personal reasons for stating that she was ashamed of the president, but its in the past. Everyone has a right to an opinion and nobody should hold that against her. President Bush has done a lot of things right, but he has done a lot of things wrong. Not everyone likes him, most Americans don’t even like him. People around the world, and even some in your own country, insult and make fun of him everyday, as I’m sure by now most people know. Just because she is a celebrity doesn’t mean she has to shut up about her opinions. Sure she has to know that her words will generate a greater impact than most people, but that doesn’t mean she is not allowed to speak at all. She is being real, not hiding how she really feels and that is something that should be admired. Many celebrities are fake, they say what they think the people want to hear just to keep their fans happy, and that I believe is the worst thing a person can do. To hide who you are, what you believe in, is just wrong.

I agree that if you don’t agree with what they said you have the right to not listen to their music, that is fair. However, for anyone to issue death threats or insults which go beyond what is appropriate is just in poor taste and is causing that part of America to look bad. It’s making those people look rude and intolerant and hateful. Outside of America, and even in many parts of America, people are in shock at the level of hate that is being generated from this event. Your calling these girls “sluts” and “fat asses”…what does that have to do with what they did? Why are they sluts? Do they have sex with many men? No, they don’t. And even IF they did, you don’t know that. Anyone who uses the term slut on anyone without reason to believe they are is just pathetic for being unable to think up a better insult that actually relates to what they did. Ohhh look at her, she’s a slut…like cmon you can do better than that. If you’re THAT uneducated that you don’t even know what the term slut means, or when it’s appropriate to use it, then you really shouldn’t be mouthing off about someone else. As for the fat comments, that’s just sickening. Are you people that superficial that you have to use something about someone’s appearence to bring them down. It is people like you who are the reason why girls are turning annorexic. That pressure to stay super skinny is killing young girls across your country just because they think that someone like Natalie is fat. Obesity is not a funny issue, and it’s not something to be made fun of. People die from it all the time, and for you to use terms like fat to describe a girl who clearly isn’t, makes people think that her weight is something not to be. Natalie is not fat. In fact, she’s a really reasonable weight, but when you label her fat, then that becomes what fat is, and then girls who are her weight think of themselves as fat too and then go on crazy diets or don’t eat at all just to lose weight. YOU should be ashamed of yourselves, not her.

All this poor girl did was express an opinion about a man who she clearly doesn’t like and as a result gets driven to the ground by patriotic critics trying to destroy her. Nice one, I hope YOU realize the consequences of YOUR actions. Maybe America should deport you guys for expressing hate towards people, or for turning her weight into such a negative thing that any girl who looks up to her is going to be influenced. If Natalie Maines is a slut, then by your standards, I guess most of America is too. Wow, look at that, you just made your country look pretty bad…wait…isn’t insulting your country a bad thing?…So, by calling the Dixie Chicks, who look like most other people, fat and sluts, your insulting any girl in America who looks like them, so you ARE insulting part of your country. So who are you to critize what THEY did, when YOU are doing the exact same thing. The only difference is they insulted one man, your insulting a whole group of people. Maybe you should watch what you say before you decide to insult others. Look in the mirror before you talk, because all this hate that your spreading is just as bad as what they did, if not worse.

Grow up and move on and stop acting like children who just got pushed around by some bully. Whaaa some mean girl at school told me I’m a loser, whaaa…go home and cry to mommy…

Those girls are intelligent, talented young women who have more guts and determination than anyone I’ve ever seen. If you guys want to deport them so badly, then fine, send them to Canada, because in Canada we appreciate difference of opinion and belief. Anyone who thinks differently can say it, but don’t expect everyone to agree with you. It is difference in opinion which has made this world so great. If everyone thought the same the world would be a pretty boring place. We are people, not robots, we are not all going to think the same, and if you can’t see that then smarten up and don’t act like such an idiot. Hate is a terrible thing, and I hope you all know how bad you look when you talk like that. You’re all a bunch of hypocrites…you don’t like that Natalie said something hateful? Fine, but don’t turn around and say just as hateful things. That is what makes you a hypocrite. If you don’t like what she did, then set an example and be the bigger person and show how forgiving and loving America can be, instead of just reinforcing the idea that Americans are hateful.

America is the land of free speech, but only when it’s the right speech. That’s the message your giving off. That it’s ok to speak your mind just as long as you say the right thing. You guys invade a country because you don’t like that they say bad stuff about America, or that they treat their people poorly, but you guys say just as bad of things about people from YOUR OWN COUNTRY! Oh my god, if you Americans really want to make a difference in this world, then why don’t you start at home and show the world that peace and love are things to be valued. If you want people around the world to stop killing each other and blowing you up, then once again, start by setting the example at home. Crime, violence and poverty are in America too. You can’t expect people around the world to love America, when your not even loving each other.

One word sums up the hate you have for her: Pathetic.

What is so ridiculous is that the knuckle-dragging, Budweiser drinking, NASCAR watching, trailer trash that supports Bush’s lies aobut installing “democracy” in Iraqnam scream “traitor” when Natalie Maines exercised EXACTLY what Bush lies about bringing to Iraqnam. Thank God/Allah/ and other cosmic mind games that Natalie Maines had the estrogen needed to tell the truth about Bush in 2003. Unfortunately you myopic fucks who are among the 28 percent who still support Bush (are you proud of the 3,507 American soldiers who have died for Bush’s lies in Iraq?? Where are the weapons of mass deception you cretins?”) are too ignorant to realize that Natalie was right. Bush IS an embarassment. Bush has squandered the good will and good name of the United States for no earthly purpose. What an embarassment. Are you knuckle draggers who support Bush getting much benefit from the tax cuts he initiated for the top 1 percent of salary earners in the United States? They received $630 BILLION in tax relief. How much did you get? Enough to buy another six pack of Budweiser and some ham hocks for your coon hound? The only thing bad about the Emmy Awards is that the Chicks were not nominated for more than 5 awards. It would have been great to see them take 20 instead of just five. And one other thing – Fuck You Toby Keith.
