Lies.com Now Movably Typed

I’ve driven a stake through the heart of slash, and resurrected the site as a Movable Type-based blog. I love MT. Everyone should be forced to run out and grab a copy right now. You’ll note that I’ve retained the slash-era stories (though not their comments). If you were an author on the old site (you know who you are) I’ve recreated your author status under MT, but you’ll need to contact me for your initial login credentials. Anyway, please start hammering on the site, and let me know about any problems you encounter, or any suggestions you have for improving it. Thanks.

So a couple questions about MT…

Is there anyway to get email whenever new stories

are made? (something like the old Slash daily-headlines

    or daily-newletter options)

    Is there an XML/RSS feed?

PS: some of the category image file names seem

to have spaces in them, which is cool, but

technically the IMG tags should have %20 where

    the spaces are. Ie:

    http://lies.com/images/mt/the world.gif”

isn’t technically a valid URL, but

    http://lies.com/images/mt/the%20world.gif“ is.

The first will only work in IE, the second will work in any browser.

I’ll look at the getting-notified-via-email thing. I can manually add your email address to a list to be notified whenever a new story is posted, but I’m not sure if there’s a self-service tool for that. I suspect the answer is no, there isn’t. But I’ll stick you on the list, if you want.

On the XML/RSS feed, check out http://www.lies.com/index.xml and http://www.lies.com/index.rdf. I don’t really understand syndication stuff, but hopefully one or the other of those will do what you want.

On the broken images, thanks for bringing that to my attention. I think that’s fixed now.
