Observations by giorgos.koronis@lies.com:

NGC6058 (Planetary Nebula, in Hercules)
Observer: Giorgos Koronis (e-mail: giorgos.koronis@lies.com)
Instrument: 8-inch Dobsonian reflector   Location: Kalamata, Greece
Light pollution: light   Transparency: good   Seeing: excellent
Time: Sun May 23 22:10:00 2004 UT   Obs. no.: 1003

I observed this faint planetary in Hercules using a Meade 8.8 UWA eyepiece (103x).Field identified with the help of Cartes du Ciel software. It was a small faint and feauterless round disk, better seen thru an O-III filter.

Comet (Comet, est. mag 9, est. to be in Cygnus)
Observer: Giorgos Koronis (e-mail: giorgos.koronis@lies.com)
Instrument: 8-inch Dobsonian reflector   Location: Kalamata, Greece
Light pollution: moderate   Transparency: good   Seeing: good
Time: Thu May 20 00:10:00 2004 UT   Obs. no.: 1001

Slowly sweeping near the star 15 Cygni I spotted again comet C/2003 K4 (Linear).I used a 10 mm plossl eyepiece (91x) on my 8" f/4.5 dob.It seemed brighter than during my previous observation. It was small,no tail visible,in a nice rich milkyway field.

Comet (Comet, est. mag 10, est. to be in Cygnus)
Observer: Giorgos Koronis (e-mail: giorgos.koronis@lies.com)
Instrument: 8-inch Dobsonian reflector   Location: Kalamata, Greece
Light pollution: moderate   Transparency: good   Seeing: good
Time: Fri May 14 10:30:00 2004 UT   Obs. no.: 996

Playing with the program HNsky I found that cometC/2003 K4 (Linear) was in Cygnus. It had a magnitude of 9 so I decided to go for it.Sweeping around the area shown by the HNsky with my 8" f/4.5 homemade dob equiped with a meade SWA 18mm (51x) I spotted it.It was in the field of a nice double consisting of two white stars.Checking Burnham's I found that it was the double star Struve 2758.The comet itself was small and very faint, perhaps fainter than the published magnitude of 9.No tail was visible. It was better seen with averted vision thru a 10mm plossl (91x).

Venus (Planet)
Observer: Giorgos Koronis (e-mail: giorgos.koronis@lies.com)
Instrument: naked eye   Location: Kalamata, Greece
Time: Wed Apr 14 11:30:00 2004 UT   Obs. no.: 984

Standing under the shadow of a house swept the sky with 12x40 binoculars and spotted Venus on the bright blue sky.Lowered the binocs looked carefully and... Venus popped into view, naked eye in broad daylight.I was amazed,I had heard that she can be seen naked eye during the day but to be frank i didn't believe it.... well i was wrong.I could hold her steadily once spotted,in fact it was easy to see her under broad daylight.

Jupiter (Planet)
Observer: Giorgos Koronis (e-mail: giorgos.koronis@lies.com)
Instrument: 8-inch Dobsonian reflector   Location: Kalamata, Greece
Light pollution: moderate   Transparency: fair   Seeing: good
Time: Sat Mar 20 21:00:00 2004 UT   Obs. no.: 968

Observed plantet Jupiter thru my homemade 8" f/4.5 dobsonian. Magnifications used 145x and 228x. S and S.S. temperate belts visible.Better seen thru blue 80A filter.Traces of equatorial band consisting of festoon "tails" visible faintly.
