Reblogging again myself, just to point out again how the coping behind them changes, showing how this was actually two separate events that were cut together to make it look like Michael Phelps was the one doing the flipping off.
This is a good reminder for anyone who thinks reality TV depicts reality. The language of video/film editing is expressive and powerful. The lies it tells feel so real that it takes an active attention to notice them even when contextual clues should make them obvious.
