I didn’t really get into the first ep of Master of None but my bro convinced me to give it another go and yeah wow good call dude
I had a version of the same experience.
The first episode made me feel like “oh; this is going to be challenging my comfort level by being edgy and quirky and confrontationally explicit.” In that sense it reminded me a little of Girls, which I watched and enjoyed before deciding that things I didn’t like we’re getting in the way of the things I did like, so I stopped.
But Master of None turned out not to be like that. What it is is honest, and yeah, there was some discomfort for me as a viewer sometimes. But it also has an underlying optimism that I really appreciated.
And then I saw the final scene in Hot Ticket and I was like, whoa; I totally did not realize we were going _there_. And then there were Nashville, and Mornings, and the Finale, and I start to tear up just thinking about how beautiful and perfect that story was.
Plus I love the rest of the characters, especially Denise and Arnold and Benjamin, the way they hang back watching Dev, then lob in an observation that’s so insightful and hilarious.
So: yeah, good call.
