I still love Frog and Toad. Which is your favorite story? Mine is the one about the to-do list. -Sally

Oh, wow, it’s so hard to pick. “A Lost Button” was the first story I ever read, and it has a special place in my heart. I think it was always my favorite one to read. But “A Swim” really spoke to me, in terms of being self-conscious and afraid to risk doing something that looked like fun. I really loved “The Letter”, too.

All of those are from Frog and Toad Are Friends, which I think must have been the first ones I read. But then I look at the stories from Frog and Toad Together, and those are wonderful, too. Including “A List”, which I think is the one you mentioned, yeah.

I was thinking about Mr. Rogers over the last few days, because it was the tenth anniversary of his death and there were a lot of items about him in my dash. Arnold Lobel’s voice in the Frog and Toad books reminds me a lot of Fred Rogers.

Looking at the Arnold Lobel page on Wikipedia, I see that he passed away 25 years ago last December. What a wonderful influence they both had.
