This movie is a favorite of mine because there are three completely different things about it that are amazing:
Emma Thompson’s script, which thoroughly deserved the Oscar that it won,
Ang Lee’s direction, which was cold and beautiful in a way that perfectly evoked the film’s themes, and
Kate Winslet’s performance, as seen here.
There are lots of other things I like about the movie. But these three things are the things I love.
