Tuesday, July 24th, 2018Thanks! Actually, though, this is a new trip. I took that photo a few hours ago.
It turns out I’m fairly prone to altitude sickness, enough so that I sometimes get it pretty bad about 8 hours or so after I arrive at the condo (even though it’s only at 8400’ elevation). In an attempt to help me acclimate I’ve gotten in the habit of doing a long hike at lower elevation on the first day. We drive up, I unpack, then I drive back down as low as I can get with a reasonable amount of driving and hang out for several hours. Bothering the birds by Crowley Lake is how I did that this time. 😀

Saturday, July 21st, 2018#i mean i know it’s true of all Darcys but you do get the distinct impression that this one has lost the knack of smiling #probably since his parents died and he’s been in charge of everything #he’ll smile around georgiana somewhat of course #but i really honestly don’t think he smiles in true ease and delight at anything #and then this just …happens to his face #while speaking to lizzie #no wonder georgiana looks up at him loving it like eyebrows fucking raised

Scenes
John Singer Sargent
was a prolific American artist, resident many years in Europe, and one of the leading portrait painters of his generation. Prodigiously skilled, Sargent dominated the art scene of his period, painting society portraits, genre scenes and landscapes, as well as being a gifted watercolourist and sketcher. His economy of technique – likened to ‘drawing’ with a brush – lent some of his works an impressionistic air, but his mastery of representation gravitated his style towards Naturalism.
