The New Dog by Linda Pastan
Into the gravity of my life,
the serious ceremonies
of polish and paper
and pen, has comethis manic animal
whose innocent disruptions
make nonsense
of my old simplicitiesas if I needed him
to prove that after
all that careful planning
anything can happen.I illustrated this poem for my first page of nagranowrimo! This is also literally what happened when I sat down to draw and was hindered by my aunt’s dog. I freehanded the panel lines instead of using a ruler like I usually do and for one I like this style better and it also takes a lot less time.
