By the way, does anyone have a shot of the Nux car after the crash? I thought the composition of the wreckage was absolutely beautiful.

I saw it too, I don’t think it’s there by accident. I mean sure, the lancer’s perch just looks like that but they didn’t have to prop it up in the sand. I also think it looks like a mast of a sailing boat that has run aground
Oh, I love this idea of ship imagery!
From the first time I watched Fury Road I was somehow reminded of PotC.
The aesthetic we have here is definitely desert pirates! When the polecats start attacking the rig, it feels so much like pirates trying to capture a ship.
I’ve had thoughts of tall ships as well, for a multitude of reasons- the polecats, the general agility of the warboys climbing around the vehicles while they’re in motion, the jerry-rigging on all those cars, the co-ordination of crew on their unique vessels- that’s sailor stuff through and through. And that attachment to a vehicle that isn’t anything like the show-off expensive car culture we have today, because it’s not based on how much money you put into it, but how much blood, sweat and tears, and, dare I say it, affection?
A ship is more than a thing to move you from A to B, it’s like a living organism which you become part of. A ship and her crew are just…they’re bonded together for as long as they sail together, sometimes longer. It sounds trite but it’s true, even when you hate the damn thing and want to fuck off back to the nearest port, it’s still your ship. Your crew. Your captain. Your mates. If you don’t do your job, everyone suffers. If you do your job well, everyone shares in the reward of a good journey.
And it’s… fun. Dangerous, difficult, and so much fun.
Tell me that’s not what I saw on screen there, with sand instead of ocean water, I’ll fight you with my marlinspike.
