I choose to read this as deliberate subversion of male lead “shoots” between female lead’s legs. George can tell me personally he never intended it that way and I will be:
1. Reception theory
2. Clearly your subconscious mind did
I totally didn’t realize he was shooting between her legs. Awesome.
I love how this whole “skeet shooting the Rock Riders” part gets so over the top. Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but I want to laugh each time I see it. The gunplay gets so action-movie trope-y that I feel like it must have been intended to be funny. Maybe it’s the sped-up editing that does that; there are moments when it starts to feel like an undercranked Benny Hill chase scene.
But of course it all makes sense, too, and the actors play it deadpan serious. So maybe finding it funny is just a me-thing.
