They were probably asked this in more specific/accurate language (why does Seaworld have a history of exceeding limits of pollution in Mission Bay, why has this happened prior, etc) but they picked the one where they could weasel-word it. :/
Companies that will be non-evil when it makes them money to be evil are exceedingly rare. You will be right way more often than wrong if you just assume that any business with an opportunity to derive profit from doing evil, exploitative things that harm innocent victims (ahem, “to enhance shareholder value by reducing costs and increasing efficiency”) will take that opportunity, like Seaworld is doing here.
I’m not excusing it by pointing out that it’s commonplace. Hurting innocent people by fouling the collective living space in order to make more money is still wrong, and the companies (and people) who do it should be stopped. I’m just saying this is a good example of what it looks like when the company in question is making a significant effort to lie about it.
