Kyle’s Ramblings: P+W Mid-Season One

itskylewalters:

Hello everybody,

I’ve sat myself down in front of this thing we call tumblr, because I feel like I should record some of my thoughts and feelings at this point in my life.  If you don’t care to read the ramblings of a grown man pretending that he is Peter Pan, you might as well just scroll all of the down to the Behind-the-Scenes photos from Episode 12: Fear and Loathing in Neverland.  Pretty cool, right?

ASK ME ANYTHING
If you have questions, ask me anything in the tumblr ask thingie.  I’ll get to questions this weekend.  (I won’t do spoilers, though!  I wish River Song had had a longer quote than “Spoilers.” It feels weird to quote a single word.)

THE ADVENTURE SO FAR
First of all, I need to thank every member of the cast and production team on the show… whether they spent a day working for us or have sacrificed their social life these past few months… this show wouldn’t be as awesome as it is without each and every single one of them.

Now that the show is airing, and I have been floored by the genuine response by the pandom.  It makes me so overwhelmed with emotion to see that people are enjoying the show.  I would like each and every one of you who watches The New Adventures of Peter and Wendy to know how much it means to me.  You’re all diamonds, and you fill me with the energy to keep making shows/episodes.  So thank you.

Being a fanboy myself, I know the responsibility that should come with adapting or working on a piece that is connecting to a fanbase.  I also know that you can’t please everyone.  But you should stay true to the heart of the source material, and be aware of other adaptations and use of the character and world.  Whoops, that kinda sounds preachy doesn’t it?  All I mean to say is that I LOVE Peter Pan.  For a long time (still) it has felt almost audacious to essentially say I get to be Peter Pan.  So I read the book maybe 20 times, watched the movies, worked on physicality, explored the psychosis, all that fun stuff… and I hope y’all like it.

STILL TO COME
(oh my gosh this post is getting long.  put down the pan punch, Kyle! and stop typing in the third person!)

I’m totally working on getting a merch store up and running (by the end of the weekend?)

There are some kickstarter backer rewards to fulfill in the next couple of months (which I’m super excited about fulfilling!).  I will be sending out surveys for specifics in a couple of weeks.  I wanted to get more of Peter’s Panels out in to the world before I got to some of the requests… and Peter has been so slacking on drawing those comic book pages… yes, blame it on the slacker character, not me being overworked… yes… it’s a character choice. Rebel against our tyrannical opressors!

VIDCON
Some of the cast and crew will be at Vidcon this year (yay!) More details to come, but we’ll be roaming around… and are planning on having a Neverland Picnic out by the foodtrucks on Saturday, June 28th.  We’ll even have con-exclusive tshirts available.

THANKS AGAIN
All of you are the bestest of the best.  Thank you for everything.  blah blah mushy mush mush.  ::Lights up a cigar and starts watching Arnold Schwarzenegger movies to feel manly again::

Stay Young Neverland,
Kyle Pan

Yup, that’s the “other half” of Wendy’s room. Blackout curtains (read: trash bags).  Matthew Breault, the director, telling me how to be better.  Paula keeping the emotion.  And Chidi Onyejuruwa, 1st Assistant Camera.

the other room.  we’ve set up my TV to have a feed of the camera!  there’s wardrobe for quick changes.  Sam Schechtman, the assistant director lookin’ cool by leaning.

co-creator and writer, Shawn deLoache, with Sam checkin’ the script to make sure we’re saying words that are atleast a semblance of what’s on the page

I don’t know what they were talking about. I was out the window.

Here’s me outside the window.  (note the script on the floor, revealing my last minute study-ness)
