Oh wow. Left arm (our right) at first made me think of a male Hermit Warbler, but the black on the breast is too extensive. And right arm (our left) is pretty tough. I want to say they’re both Parulidae, but I can’t go much further than that. It would be really helpful to have more color, though I realize that might pose difficulties for the canvas. I should check the Peterson and NatGeo guides, though; it could be these are taken from one of those, in which case I could find the actual source images, which would (of course) answer the question immediately.

Can you tell it’s less than a week until the Carpinteria Christmas Count? I’m compulsively identifying birds everywhere.
