Ok this made me laugh a bit. The reason is because we as a fandom were basically capable of bringing the essence of the book into the fandom with the whole mysterious thing looming over us.
And although we do try to keep everything light and fun there is still “the things” presence looming in this fandom.
This brings me back to a point a made a while ago about how I feel that those of us who have read Jane Eyre are almost like Rochester in the sense that we are trying to keep those who haven’t read the book from figuring out the secret but once it’s been revealed all shit will break loose.
P.s Congrats on the fandom for doing an amazing job at keeping everything under wrap

There’s also the fact that even fans who’ve read the book have no real knowledge about what form It will take in AoJE. So the vague sense of foreboding they’ve managed to instill in the non-book-readers isn’t some commendable exercise of restraint. It’s just including the non-book-readers in the same enveloping sense of Oh Noes Something Is Coming But I Don’t Know What It Is Oh Noes that the book readers are going through.

You’re welcome, non-book-readers! Have some tea. :-)
