It’s been a while since our last art appreciation post. It seems fitting that we jump back in with a return to NC Wyeth.
Here are four of his less well known illustration, done for CS Forester’s Horatio Hornblower novels. The look of them overall is a bit different from most of the Wyeth illustrations one calls readily to mind (and not least because of the rare opportunity to see his line drawings), but they still have a pleasant sense of excitement to them.
Which, as any fan of those novels can tell you, is only fitting.
I read a few of these books when I was young.
I read them all when I was… young-ish.
