There’s an AU DC Comics version of Socially Awkward Poe in which Poe is a superhero who can travel through time, talk to ghosts, etc., but between sessions of world-saving he removes the Poestache, and suddenly no one recognizes mild-mannered Sean as the same guy.
This leads to awesome scenes like when he’s working at the coffeehouse and a group of his co-worker baristas are going on about how dreamy Poe is, speculating about what his secret identity could be, and one of them says, “Yeah, he could be anybody. Like, Sean could be Poe,” and they all burst out laughing at his expense. And he just sighs and turns back to the espresso machine, saying quietly to himself, “Nameless here for evermore.”
