The way this sequence worked on (at least) two levels simultaneously was…
Dammit. I don’t have adequate words. One of you articulate types, help me out. The way you could watch it wondering, “what is Rochester’s actual conversation about, and how does his frustration in the call contrast with the way he’s acting with Jane on the kidnapping/date?” But then also, Jane’s voice-over, just as pure comedy. But then thinking about what it means that Jane is making this light-hearted, goofy voice-over, not realizing…
All that at once, as just one little part of what I think is probably the most amazing 8 minutes of classic-lit-as-vlog-adaptation I’ve ever seen.
This show is like fucking Athena springing forth fully formed from Zeus’s forehead.
