I just thought it was an amusing way to bring up the idea and allow for further discussion.
It was never meant to actually imply that any interpretations are ‘mistakes’.
Though, I feel compelled to point out that the word ‘mistake’ is often seen as a negative word – but is, in fact, not one. Penicillin was a ‘mistake’, as was Rubber, Plastic, and Coca-Cola. For the most part, all artists work by first making ‘mistakes’ and finding solutions to them.
I think it would be a mistake to avoid the word.
