Kate on Climate Models

More interesting stuff that shcb will not read (Update: That he says he did read. Though he also says the planet isn’t warming, so take that for what it’s worth.): How do climate models work? This is by Kate at ClimateSight. It’s a very readable explanation of a subject she knows very, very well.

That’s a lot of talk with not a lot of references to back it up. Also, false statements. But I’m done getting into that.

Also patronizing to assume she’s a “snot-nosed kid” who doesn’t have critical thinking skills because she hasn’t had “life kick her teeth in” enough times to develop those skills. I’m pretty sure we know absolutely nothing about what she may or may not have experienced in her life. But she’s just a student at one of those good-for-nothing universities, so psh she’s just a stupid kid right? amirite?? Ugh.

    Besides the point, I realize.

You’re right, I don’t know Kate, don’t know her family, don’t know her folks, so call it an educated guess. Let’s look at the evidence. She grew up on the plains of Canada, I grew up on the planes of America. She was probably a farm kid or lived in a small farm town, maybe not but probably, she’s bright so she probably isn’t a drugger or a drunk. She started writing this blog when she was 16 out of boredom so she probably didn’t have to work much, she had a computer and internet access. I haven’t seen a lot of bitterness or self loathing in her writing so I think it is safe to assume she grew up in a happy middle or above class family that was kind and nurturing, she seems pretty committed to her cause so even though she is seemingly liberal at the age of about 20 because she has heart, I see little chance she will have the brains to be conservative when she is 30 to paraphrase Churchill, the real one, not Ward.

I think there are enough similarities in her and my lives for me to make a call on this one. I could be wrong but I’ve see or lived through 3 generations of these kids, a pattern develops after a while. I don’t mind making judgment calls because I don’t mind being wrong, I’ve been wrong before, will be again, but I’ve been right a lot more than I’ve been wrong.
