Well, it’s midnight and I have a new grandson

Great. He owes the world $45,000. Tell him to pay up.

    NOW.

  5. NorthernLite Says:

    And on that note…

Today I heard one of the most logical and reasonable quotes from a politician that I’ve heard in a very long time.

    Talking about tax cuts:

“I never understood when it became a mark of conservatism to run up debt on your children’s credit card instead of biting the bullet and paying your own bills.”

    -Mike Huckabee (seriously)

  6. shcb Says:

The little guy has pretty ambitious parents and grandparents, I’m sure he will grow up with that same drive and pay his fair share of taxes to support more than a few lazy asses and their lazy kids.

  7. NorthernLite Says:

I’m sure he will. The only problem is he’s going to have to not only pay his fair share, but yours as well since you greedy bastards keep giving yourselves big ol tax cuts even though you’re running record deficits and debt.

I’m sure if he could speak right now he’d say something like, ‘wtf?!’

  8. shcb Says:

Don’t get me wrong, I’m with you, I think we should stop spending money we don’t have. We should cut social spending by a huge degree, cut back on military spending and let Africa and Europe burn if they don’t have the will to protect themselves, save Japan, they make cool toys, and drill baby drill. Let the Mid East implode of their own hatred and then buy them for pennies on the dollar so we can stop drilling. Eliminate corporate taxes (and deductions, can’t deduct what isn’t taxed) to encourage companies to make stuff here and cut back on regulations that impede growth. That ole debt would drop like a rock and the boy would thank his old grandpa for being so wise. Poor people would hate me but they don’t much like me now anyway (unless I give them money on the train) so fuck em, get a job and pay your fair share I say.

  9. knarlyknight Says:

didn’t realize your grandson was Afrimerican…

  10. enkidu Says:

some interesting infopr0n there Knarly (I clicked on a bunch of those links)

Most interesting detail of the direct link was that Canadians have a per capita debt of 1/3 of what Americans do. Surprisingly high really. But then again your banks had strong regulatory controls that prevented them from riding the derivative bubble and the credit rating debacle.

Anyone else think it just the teensiest bit creepy that wwnj’s grandson is born at midnight and wwnj jumps on lies.com to post of his arrival? Halfrican American? Maybe he will grow up to be President some day! Keep his long form birth certificate and newspaper announcements in a fireproof safe. Otherwise some nutty billionaire and a bunch of racist teahadists will declare he was born in a furin country (like Hawaii).

pay his fair share of taxes to support more than a few lazy asses and their lazy kids.

Why don’t you just scream π!@@#& a few dozen times and get it over with (for today anyway).

so fuck em, get a job and pay your fair share I say.

So now you want to tax the rich? So most rich folks inherit their wealth aren’t paying their fair share? Finally! Some common sense from wwnj! The estate tax was at ZERO in 2010. And now has a $5 million dollar exemption! oh. wait. just more (very) thinly veiled racism from the resident racist. Same old same old.

  11. shcb Says:

No, this one has two Caucasian parents, my other grandson is half black but he seems he will take after his grandpa and will be an engineer, he was taking the bbq grill apart before he was two.

“Why don’t you just scream π!@@#& a few dozen times and get it over with (for today anyway).” I almost married a white girl till I met her family and found out she was third generation welfare mom, dad was a worthless drunk, he was so worthless the fat lazy bitch mother wouldn’t even keep him. I decided I didn’t want to breed more worthless kids, so I married my wife. She was so poor, at times growing up if dad didn’t shoot a rabbit they didn’t eat, but he is over 80 and still laying brick. I don’t care what color the lazy bastards or bitches are, get a job. Psst, my wife is part indian (native American)

My white daughter and black son in law both are hard workers, they aren’t real ambitious, I don’t think they will ever make a lot of money but they have a nice house in suburbia hell where the kids can run the cul de sac and keep plenty of food on the table, they’ll be fine.

Just so we can get the bigotism out of the way, the other daughter is gay and going for a PHD, she’ll be fine too.

So let’s get the tally, I have:

    2 grandsons
    2 grand daughters

3 grandchildren are half white and half black, just like the prisident and Halle Berry

    1 grandchild is all white

    1 construction manager daughter
1 stay at home mother until she decides to go back to work (she was offered a 60k job in high school for Proctor and Gamble)
1 gay someday to be college professor daughter

For a total of one family I love dearly and don’t give a shit what pigeon hole group assholes like Enky want to put them in.

What? How did you get that from anything I said? How is the estate tax racist? Do people of color not have money? Are there no millionaire blacks or Mexicans? Biggest yacht I have ever seen was owned by a Mexican. Jews don’t have money? Gay people don’t have money? Makes you wonder what goes on in your little brain sometimes.

  12. Smith Says:

“People are poor because they are lazy”. That has to be my favorite Big Lie. But hey, I guess it helps your self-entitled ass sleep at night, so whatever.

P.S. “Gay” isn’t a race. What the hell is wrong with you?

“How is the estate tax racist?…Gay people don’t have money?”

  13. shcb Says:

READ WHAT I SAY!!!!!!!!! People sponge because they are lazy. My wife’s family was poor, they didn’t sponge, they didn’t take taxpayer money, they made do, they had pride and food on the table, they were not lazy.

  14. knarlyknight Says:

Wow. We’re getting somewhere. Hell, I haven’t seen shcb swear like this before, either he’s off his med’s again, drunk, or less likely something got under his skin (psiarosis probly.)

I never been poor, but my take is that the lazy ones beg and the motivated ones steal, & I can’t begrudge either because if I or anyone of you fuckers including shcb couldn’t see any other option to feed yourself or your family you’d do the same.

Anyone like shcb who talks about poor being lazy needs to be ignored. We have a program here where you can employ homeless people for odd jobs around the house. In my experience in employing them, and that of my neighbors, is that they work like hell and are grateful for the opportunity to earn enough for dinner. My bet is that shcb is full of shit, as usual.

  15. shcb Says:

In the first place Knarly for some perverse masochistic reason I consider most of you guys friends, I thought it would be fun to share some good news, a simple “congratulations, hope mother and son are doing well” was all that was needed as a response. But this is a political blog (and caterpillars and puppets) so what you started was fine and you did it in a friendly manner. What irks me is how it got turned into a race discussion, then it turned into a lily-white-shcb-family-since-he-is-conservative-and we-all-know-how-those-people-are discussion when I probably have the most diverse family of anyone on this site. And nothing I said has anything to do with race! there are lazy asses in every race.

Back to the discussion. You’re poking around the edges of what I am saying, your example of poor people doing odd jobs is good, but those aren’t the people I’m talking about. I think it is great to give people that want help a hand up, and being poor doesn’t mean lazy. I’m talking about the lazy that are perfectly capable of working but have learned to game the system. I asked the girl I was dating in the example above what her parents did for a living, she kind of hem hawed and said well, they were poor. Of course I said being poor doesn’t answer the question, she said her dad drank a lot and didn’t stay employed much and mom lived off welfare. Then I met the mom and the rest of the family, they knew every government program and how to game it, they actually worked at being poor because as an American it was owed them. They plotted when this or that benefit was going to run out and which was going to replace it. “Can’t file for that program yet, we need to let this one run out first, but don’t wait too long because it takes 2 weeks for the check to get here. But wait, there is a program to bridge the gap! If we play it right we can get double pay!” Then I found out her mom had been trained by her grandma in the fine art of letting the government take care of you and you’re worthless kids. Useless slugs.

    READ WHAT I SAY!!!!!!!!!

If one has the stomach for it, we read what you say and there is quite a lot of overt racist fauxnews nonsense. Your predilection for using hate speech, racist ‘welfare queen’ homey rightwing canards and outright balderdash isn’t just some isolated incident. You keep talking about ‘the conversation’ or ‘the debate’ but what basis for understanding and communication is there if you can’t understand basic concepts like up/down, 2+2 does not equal taxamagical nonsense, or your statement that defense spending is $400 billion or so (it’s closer to a trillion, and *increasing* under the Kenyan usurper). btw, perhaps you don’t get facts like these in hate radioland, but Clinton put thru welfare reform (and raised taxes and we had the longest strongest growth of the modern era). Also Reagan’s ‘welfare queen’ cadillac story was utter bunkum. oh. right. facts is liberal (rolls eyes)

knarly, maybe u missed wwnjs screaming “you fucking idiotic stupid scumbag” http://www.lies.com/wp/2011/02/25/godspeed-vs-beck/#comment-220590 for pointing out that his military spending numbers were nonsense. He always goes to the screechy foul language when he feels someone doesn’t ‘respect his authoritah’.

wwnj, here’s a clue: start using facts and less partisan bullshnitzle and we’ll get back to you when you start making sense.

  17. NorthernLite Says:

enk, we wouldn’t even have that much debt if our right-wing PM hadn’t… you guessed it… cut taxes for the rich so much over the past five years.

Sorry I haven’t been around much lately, I’m working hard to do my part to rid our country of said right-wing PM… Which is hard when there’s only one conservative party and four progressive ones splitting the vote.

But, less than two weeks to go and we’re making ground!

    Wish us luck!

  18. shcb Says:

according to wiki Canadian tax rates haven’t changed but slightly (lower for upper lower class citizens) since 2001 and then not much. Estate taxes haven’t changed since 1972 again according to that bastion of information Wiki

    http://www.vancouverobserver.com/blogs/centrist/2011/02/03/harper-corporate-tax-cuts-reckless-and-unaffordable

Canada is now running a $56 billion deficit and has accumulated more than $200 billion in new debt under the Harper government. So of the $560B debt, Harper rang up $200B, sounds like a right proper wwnj.

fyi – Harper cut corporate tax rates (even managing to get that backwards)

Add in the debt of the provinces, territories and cities and the total government debt across Canada stands at $1.1 trillion US.

Kevin Gaudet, federal director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, puts that figure in slightly more relatable terms: $32,506 US for every man, woman and child in this country according to the Economist Magazine’s Intelligence Unit.

“That puts us right behind Greece,” said Gaudet.

The Economist’s Intelligence Unit pegs the total government debt at $35,403 US for every Greek citizen. Other countries thought to be the basket cases of Europe perform better than Canada when you look at the amount owed per citizen. Ireland, thought to be teetering near collapse over the last year, has a per capita debt of $28,758 US, while Portugal sits at $18,959 US.

“When you include provincial debt, we¹re third worst of the PIIGS,” said Gaudet, referring to Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Greece and Spain.

I am unsure what the total would be for the US if we included state and local debt.

I found it priceless that the terrorists align themselves with “Harper’s government”:

The Tamil Tigers were notorious for using suicide bombings, child soldiers and political assassinations in their failed 26-year war for a separate Tamil state in Sri Lanka. Since the war ended in 2009, remnants of the Tigers’ large Canadian support base, based mainly in Toronto, have aligned themselves with the federal Tories and the Ontario Progressive Conservatives.

hmmmm DJIA is at 12,505.99 (let’s call it 12,506)
so, not to belabor this point yet again, but since Obama took office at the end of Jan 2009, which direction has the market gone? You can do it! Come on… think lil ricki! It’s the opposite of the direction under w. While less than perfect from my point of view, the Obministration restored confidence and avoided a Greater Depression (no thanks to w’s financial knee-capping)

The debt has swelled due to a number of factors:

    a) bush tax cuts (unfunded)
    b) bush medicare part D (unfunded)
    c) two botched wars (unfunded)
    d) financial collapse while dumbya diddled

Unemployment is slowly coming down. Companies are making record profits. Business outlook is good (but trouble on the horizon with Rethugs threatening to default on the US treasury debt if they don’t obliterate npr and planned parenthood – with a side helping of tax cuts for the richest). It is *always* party before country with Rethugs.

  24. shcb Says:

Yes Obama’s leadership has been stellar, so in your opinion what has the great and powerful one done that has brought about this miraculous and historic recovery.

  25. enkidu Says:

FACT – the direction of the markets since bush left office is… up

FACT – employment is going… up (way too slowly)

FACT – taxes on the wealthy need to go… up (raise mine too, I won’t miss the 3%. thx, just don’t blow it on another botched war… oh, wait)

oh, wait, facts is lib, and you can’t understand up from down
    nm

  26. shcb Says:

But that doesn’t answer the question, what has Obama done to effect your FACTs.

  27. NorthernLite Says:

Your wiki source is waaaaaaaaay off shcb.

In addition to the corporate tax cut orgy, Harper also cut our consumption tax (GST) by two points, from 7% to 5% – removing $12 billion/year in revenue. At the same time he did this he raised income taxes on the lowest bracket (i.e. the poorest among us) by one point. Cut capital gains, cut estate… see the pattern? Cuts for the rich; shit on the poor and rack up record debt.

Back to work on winning the future ;) And the ard work has been paying off:

    http://www.canada.com/technology/surge+lead+Quebec+poll/4651625/story.html

  28. shcb Says:

Fair enough, I figured there was probably more to the story than just income tax.
