Oh my god that stuff is funny. Some of it on her site is heavy-handedly silly, but the dinosaur? and the jilted Lieberman? Ahhahahah. I really cannot stop laughing at the dinosaur… Rrraaaar! [thumbs up]

  2. enkidu Says:

Everyone knows that Adam and Eve rode dinosaurs to church!
My goodness what they teach in these public ‘schools’!

I am going to watch tonight and hope Joe gets his points across and I look forward to Palin making an ass of herself yet again (tho I am sure they have some pre-scripted zingers for her to use already in the can)

    rrrrrawwwr!

  3. ymatt Says:

Dude, she totally missed out on the chance to do some great Obama stuff. Although I realize it’s hard to top:

    Texas Slang
    Slandering local wild life?
    Tuesday, September 30, 2008

While suturing a cut on the hand of an old Texas rancher whose hand had been caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the man. Eventually the topic got around to Sarah Palin and her bid to be a heartbeat away from being President.

The old rancher said, “Well, ya know, Palin is a post turtle.”

Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a post turtle was.

The old rancher said, “When you’re driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that’s a post turtle.”

The old rancher saw a puzzled look on the doctor’s face, so he continued to explain. “You know she didn’t get up there by herself, she doesn’t belong up there, she doesn’t know what to do while she is up there, and you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put her up there to begin with.”

Well it’s been two days and change and no one is talking about how bad Sarah did dog gone it. They are talking about Biden’s lies, everywhere but Lies.com

Since you guys have such a well rounded love of political comedy you should go see An American Carol, it wasn’t as funny as I thought it would be, some pretty serious stuff underlining the slapstick, but it had its moments. The part where O’Reilly is interviewing Moore and Rosie and Rosie goes into her tirade about the 911 conspiracy crap and then tries to pull Moore into it saying “we’re documentary film makers, we expose the truth, right Michael” and Moore moves closer to Bill shaking his head like he doesn’t know what the hell she’s talking about. The other scene that Jayson will love is when they “pull a Chamberlain”. Neville is there signing a treaty and the next scene he is shinning Hitler’s boots. When Kelsey Grammer as Patton tells Chamberlain that Tojo, Hitler and Mussolini are playing him for a fool, he looks up from his shoe shine stool and says that he has a treaty that will ensure peace or something to that effect, the trio then breaks into a medley of peace songs, it was great! There was even a mention of J.A.Y.S.O.N from Lies.com in the credits, way at the end, you’ll have to be the last one out of the theater to see it.

  7. shcb Says:

Cleanse your little liberal souls with this.

  8. J.A.Y.S.O.N. Says:

    What are you talking about?

Actually no one is ‘talking about Biden’s lies’ except for Senator Foghorn Leghorn there right after the debate. All I hear is that people are saying they’re kinda surprised Sarah didn’t put her foot in her mouth, but maybe it was a little too folksy.

Ah yeah? I’m in the credits, thats sweet of those guys, but they never asked my permission. I almost get the joke… or something. Us liberals? I could go on a whole thing about how I’m not but I’ve said it once. I feel like I should say something about ‘you conservatives’ but you’re not even that, shcb. You’re post-political, you said yourself that you just vote straight party, a damning self indictment of utter narrowness of thought, no wonder you’ll come on here and defend Ms. Potato Head. I made a huge mistake treating you like a rational human being, but its swell of you to just point out your not. One more thing, since you love to bring it up, for all the bullshit and bluster about some kind of self imagined Republican toughness, Republicans have screwed up ever war since 1860. Just remember, you can keep saying something over and over, but that still doesn’t make it true.

    Paintings are cute.

  9. shcb Says:

I vote a straight ticket because I understand the political process in our country, it has nothing to do ideology or adherence to one’s ideology, it is simply a practical matter whichever side of the isle you’re on.

I kind of thought the whole “independent, look at both sides, make a rational decision” wasn’t going to last, you’re a liberal through and through.

Ms. Potato Head? You still think she’s stupid? Look, even if she didn’t know anything when she did the Gibson ambush, she has learned enough in two weeks to hold up very well to a senator of thirty years on a national stage, unless you think Gwen gave her the questions before the debates. She may have been ignorant of issues a few weeks ago but she is pretty conversant on some really tough subjects now, I think that makes her pretty darn intelligent.

    But please keep underestimating her

  10. enkidu Says:

I watched the entire debate except the opening statements (nasty flu going around our house, ugh) I caught the opening statements later. Biden’s “lies”? No one is talking about Biden’s “lies” except extremist right wing nut jobs. Politicians ‘stretch’ the truth. I could go thru the list from that “stoptehACLU!!1!!1!!” site but my time is more valuable than debunking to such partisan bull. None of that list was backed up by any facts…. gee I wonder why? Oh because that list was a lame partisan hackjob. And the site? Lord help us if this is where dumbfarkistan gets their ‘facts’. The ACLU has a hammer and sickle? The ads are about the End Times and “Bare Naked Islam”? What a sack of crap.

As a lifelong NA/IND voter I look at shcb’s Republicans über alles! with nothing short of loathing. The fiscal stuff I used to think the Rs were ‘for’ has been shown to be a sad charade. I’ve never been ‘for’ the R platform of social issues. They could indeed nominate Mrs PotatoHead and the fanatics and racists are going to vote for it as teh bestest thing evar! Just to make sure you don’t dismiss my blanket charge of racism on the part of the fanatical Rs, perhaps you could google the incident of a teacher who wrote on the whiteboard “CHANGE = Come Help A Nigger Get Elected”. Or dear shcb’s wwnj talking pint that the whole bailout thing is the fault of negroes and mexicans – just not factually based, but it resonates with the dregs, er I mean base.

I am not going to vote for someone who crams for a test. A couple weeks of lernin aint done her much gooder. And stop winking, that will go nowhere with other world leaders (other than our puppet states). I found her many winks very creepy.

Every poll I could find with any merit (ie conducted by a polling firm with a declared methodology, MoE etc) found Biden the winner. Except that Drudge web poll (o yeah there is an impartial observer, why is this idiot even listened to? because there are so many idiots stumbling about). No huge blunders by Mrs Moosehunt McMethlab, so its a solid win? No. It isn’t gotcha journalism to ask what her thoughts are on the Bush Doctrine. This is the biggest shift in US foreign policy of our lifetimes, that she didn’t have a clue, after repeated gentle reminders shows her to be unprepared to take on the role of Commander in Chief.

But she didn’t commit any huge gaffes, just lots of disconnected babble. Biden connected, Palin performed.

  11. shcb Says:

Biden did well, no doubt. I thought it was cute that he was even a little smitten with that “dog gon it Joe” line. he really seemed to enjoy her company. you know I don’t put much trust in anything on blogs, that was the first one I found, they all seem to have the same 14 points. I think Joe won the battle but lost the war. if that weren’t true this thread would be three or four down the page by now.

  13. shcb Says:

I’m confused, he says the American people are stupid and yet he doesn’t seem to know who held congress or who sets the budgets or economic policy. Hmmmm I think he is simplistic demagogue. (the writer of the link or Enky, take your pick)

  14. enkidu Says:

riiiight, saying things like “cleanse your little liberal souls” makes you a paragon of propriety.

Look, it is nice that you’ve cleaned up your act as we approach the election (fewer death threats or allusions to violence and all that), but the fact remains you are the extremist here (in America I mean… at lies.com lefty flutters in every now and again for his seagull debate style – flies in, shits all over everything, then flies out – mcfrootloop is definitely more extreme than you, so take heart). But your constant racism, the partisan bigotry, the dumber than a sack of hammers ‘thinking’ are hurting America. Really.

Now – please – stfu for the next 4 to 8 years while we progressives and librls fix your colossal fuckups. It’ll be hard enough without you morans sabotaging every step of the Obama presidency with your partisan freakshow.

  15. J.A.Y.S.O.N. Says:

shcb, I’m not a liberal because you say I am. You can repeat it as much as you like, but its never going to make it true. You on the other hand, continue to prove everything I say with your statements. Actually going to vote for a major party candidate represents an acknowledgment of the realities of the political landscape in America. Always voting straight party ticket represents either the rigid adherence to ideology, willful ignorance or some measure of combination. I’m going put you down for willful ignorance though, since you have to draw everyone here into two camps, again, you putting a label on someone doesn’t make it so, champ.

No one here is underestimating the value of having Palin on the ticket for McCain. It’s just that the rest of us see her addition to the ticket as the incredibly transparent move it always has been.

She doesn’t seem smarter than the average person, so men so old men don’t feel intimidated. She’s cute and she doesn’t have great credentials so soccer mom’s aren’t threatened. She’s religious and she’s a mom. Its a great laundry list for likability on the ticket, but none of it has anything to do with anything substantial at all.

Now that they’ve had her cramming and studying the words in bold print for a while she sounds less incoherent than a few weeks ago sure. At the same time she’s talking about how great it is that the Constitution is going to let her expand the vice president’s powers. (maybe someone took her aside and told her how much energy her state actually produces too) There’s a statement that shows just how much we need to watch her. Maybe she’s really Dick Cheney in a skirt.

Didn’t know anything with the Gibson ambush you say? That makes it not an ambush then, just makes her ignorant. Held up well… Again, you saying it doesn’t make it so. People were just very very impressed that she didn’t put her foot in her mouth like she had been doing, that’s all.

  16. knarlyknight Says:

There’s no reason to talk about Palin anymore, she’s shown herself to be incompetent for a VP & at Mcain’s age & health an actuary analysis shows he has more than a one in four chance of death in the next four years. So if there’s been nothing on Lies dot com about her failings lately, I’d say because it’s sooo overdone elsewhere that it is just not newsworthy enuf for lies dot com.

She’s been lambasted on radio here as the clear loser in the debate and utterly unworthy of the VP position. There’s a pretty good flow-chart that explains her debate performance quite nicely. Unfortunately a direct link to the chart doesn’t come here at lies when I submit it so to see it copy the following into your browser and take out hte spaces:

    http :// www . stevesilberman . com / downloads / palinflow . gif

or you can go to http://www.adennak.com/blog/wordpress/ and scroll down to the “Moosehunter” blog post of October 3, 2008 then scroll down to the end of that post (or for shcb, if he has more than half a mind he could get some ejdukashun by reading that post.)

    Other topic…

Stop the ACLU? Ha, what a lark. Enk’s right, I found every statement was less than a half-truth, misleading or alarmist nonsense, but a lot just made no sense at all.

Like, # 11 is particularly retarded:

    11. IRAQ: When Joe Biden lied when he said that John McCain was “dead wrong on Iraq”, because Joe Biden shared the same vote to authorize the war and differed on the surge strategy where they John McCain has been proven right.

Makes no sense; but it just goes to show that shcb has close links to idiots.

  17. shcb Says:

    Jayson,

I assume you are talking about this quote?

And that’s not only to preside over the Senate and will take that position very seriously also. I’m thankful the Constitution would allow a bit more authority given to the vice president if that vice president so chose to exert it in working with the Senate and making sure that we are supportive of the president’s policies and making sure too that our president understands what our strengths are.

She is of course right, although I am not sure how happy I am that she is thinking of going to the length I think she is planning. It of course isn’t unconstitutional since the constitution doesn’t really say what the duties of the vice president are, it isn’t without precedent either. The VP was kind of an afterthought in the Constitution. I am surprised Ms Spud Head is that versed in the history of the vice president. Of course if Hamilton hadn’t made the points he did in Federalist 68 we wouldn’t even be talking about this. Although if the VP were drawn from the Senate essentially the same thing would happen in reverse.

I was mad at the Democrats when they used the filibuster to block judges and the Republicans for letting them. This is what happens when you let liberals act like children, and then it escalates. At some point the Democrats will have the White House and Republicans will have the Senate and they (Democrats) will be able to essentially control the Senate from the White House if Palin sets this precedence. What do you think?

  18. enkidu Says:

I think shcb’s sack of hammers is only half full (at best)
Did you really just mention filibusters? call liberals children? pull some crap out of your arse? Allow me to fact check that filibuster thing for a second:

Bill Schreiber (wwnj) implores American voters to educate themselves and claims that the “Democratic-controlled U.S. Congress has accomplished nothing since they took over in ’06.”

Here’s a little help with that education. In December of 2007 the Republican Senate minority set a modern-day record for blocking the most legislation during a congressional session. Congressional sessions are recorded in two-year spans, but Republicans used more filibusters than anyone else in half the time. That’s a lot of obstruction. In fact Republicans are currently on pace to triple the current record for filibusters.

This has been their game plan since they lost the majority in 2006: block everything and blame the “Democratic-controlled” do-nothing Congress.

So by all means, American voters, get educated. And when you find Republicans putting their party before “the people,” do something about it.

Just keep underestimating reality and it’ll keep biting you on the behind.

  20. knarlyknight Says:

margaret and helen – perfectly expresses the sickness in my stomach when I think about Palin getting any more power/ I , if they are blog persona’s that’s okay but there should be more people like them in the world!

I see the Sarah Palin Debate Flowchart has a lot of links now: w3 . huffingtonpost . com/2008/10/03/sarah-palin-debate-flowch_n_131607 . html

and to re-inforce shcb’s comment on palin’s thoughts on the VP role being a little too aggressive for his liking, the writing is on the wall for those with open eyes:

And she is arrogant, make no mistake. Hell, it’s arrogant enough for her to assume that she could be the Vice President without even knowing what the job entails. But here’s a more specific story that should snap-freeze the hairs on your neck. When she became mayor of Wasilla, she spent around $50,000 of taxpayer money redecorating her office. Which is pretty obnoxious on its own, but isn’t even the bad part of the story. When she was confronted with the radical idea that The People might not give a shit whether she liked the pattern on the drapes, she responded with the sort of self important authoritarianism that makes Dick Cheney soak his own trousers. “I’m the mayor, I can do whatever I want until the courts tell me I can’t.”

from adennak’s dot com “Moosehunter” blog.

  21. shcb Says:

    Enky,

You don’t pay attention very well and you are ignorant of many of the issues you blather on and on about, and too lazy to learn. I said filibuster judges learn a little of the issues before you make such a fool of yourself.

Here is a quote from Biden in the debate the other night “The Constitution is explicit” here is what the Senate’s own website says on its history page

The framers also devoted scant attention to the vice president’s duties, providing only that he “shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no Vote, unless they be evenly divided” (Article I, section 3).

That is all the constitution says, there is no other mention of what the role of the “president of the senate” does. There is no mention in the federalist papers as far as I can see either.

Here is a paragraph from the Senate’s web site:

Several framers ultimately refused to sign the Constitution, in part because they viewed the vice president’s legislative role as a violation of the separation of powers doctrine. Elbridge Gerry, who would later serve as vice president, declared that the framers “might as well put the President himself as head of the legislature.” Others thought the office unnecessary but agreed with Connecticut delegate Roger Sherman that “if the vice-President were not to be President of the Senate, he would be without employment, and some member [of the Senate, acting as presiding officer] must be deprived of his vote.”

Do you see where I’m going with this? You’ll probably have to know some of the history of the office of the VP to understand but I think I’ve given you enough.

  22. enkidu Says:

You brought up filibusters, which reminded me of another wwnj blabbering point. But please do continue to ignore your Rethuglican party’s slimeball tactic of filibustering at a rate nearly triple that of any other congress… I don’t give a shit about staying on your subjects precisely because you are so full of it (shit that is). Should I chastise you for straying off the posts subject?

btw religulous took in nearly 3X the $ as your wwnj ‘comedy’ An American Crapfest (ie despite being in 1/3 as many theaters, 3X more people watched Bill Maher’s satire per theater than your right wing nut job buffoonery). You freaks are more and more pathetic with every passing day.

Look, as an IND/NA voter here is my advice: the current neocon freakshow is done, finished. Fiscal conservatives should break with the social whackos and spend some time in the wilderness rebuilding their party (we also have a lot of run down infrastructure that dumbya has ignored to get his glorious wars on, mb you could fix some of those things while you blunder about). Come back as the party of fiscal conservatism, environment conservatism and leave the preaching of 4th century values to the Taliban.

But just continue to pull crap out of your arse and you make yourself increasingly irrelevant. Ignorant? Look in the mirror.

Your sack of hammers is nearly empty.

  23. shcb Says:

ok, so Enky doesn’t know what I’m talking about, anyone else?

  24. enkidu Says:

correction: no one cares what you are blabbering about

  25. knarlyknight Says:

yea, we know what you are talking about shcb, and I think Enk does too.

If you bring up the filibusters of judge appointments then, regardless of your desire to keep the focus on those particular filibusters, the whole subject of filibusters is ion the table.

It’s as if you were saying something must be done to limit the overfishing of sturgeon because it is making it difficult to supply Republican fundraisers with appetizers, when the real issue is that global fish stocks are a fraction of historical levels and as a result many historic fishing villages are now in poverty and their people are malnourished.

Don’t you get it? Your motives, tactics and willingness to stretch a partisian Republican argument far beyond the limits of reasonableness are transparent and that is making you, and narrow-minded autocrats like Bush, Cheney, McCain and Palin increasingly irrelevant.

  26. J.A.Y.S.O.N. Says:

What do I think? I’ll agree filibuster is childish, but that applies to anyone using it.

What I also think is its amazing you cling to this notion that you saying it makes it correct.

Mrs. Palin actually demonstrates either an ignorance of the duties and powers of the office she seeks or, in a blatant disrespect of the Constitution, wishes to usurp more powers. The VP has two duties, which are defined by the Constitution: to cast a vote in the event of a Senate deadlock and to preside over and certify the official vote count of the U.S. Electoral College, thats it. There is no Constitutional provision for an expansion of VP powers, scant attention payed doesn’t translate into wiggle room for the assumption of greater powers, as judicial rebukes against VP Cheney have shown.

While there is a precedent of referring to the Federalist Papers as representative of the framer’s thoughts, using them as the basis of constitutional interpretation has always been controversial. James Madison himself denied that they had authoritative character, stating in reference to the Constitution “the legitimate meaning of the Instrument must be derived from the text itself; or if a key is to be sought elsewhere, it must be not in the opinions or intentions of the Body which planned & proposed the Constitution, but in the sense attached to it by the people in their respective State Conventions where it recd. all the Authority which it possesses”

So the question is, Palin, doesn’t know or doesn’t care?

  27. enkidu Says:

Actually the filibuster when used (very) sparingly is a legitimate tool of government. If you are willing to stand and talk for hours… delaying the business of government, it used to get noticed… with consequences, media opprobrium and public attention. When you use it 80 times in a couple years (a year?) at nearly triple the previous record, then something isn’t right.

It is called systematic obstruction. Pathological partisanship.

Putting Mrs Moosehunt into Cheney’s VP machine is like allowing a little girl to drive a tank (that one is for lefty – enjoy). Or John McCain to fly a plane.

  28. ymatt Says:

“She may have been ignorant of issues a few weeks ago but she is pretty conversant on some really tough subjects now, I think that makes her pretty darn intelligent.”

I do not know the first thing about football, but give me a couple weeks of doing nothing but studying what’s going on in football and I bet I could conduct myself with a pro football coach, especially if he weren’t allowed to press me to elaborate on anything I say. Maybe that makes me “intelligent”, but it sure as hell doesn’t make me somebody you want to coach your football team.

  29. knarlyknight Says:

Excellent example ymatt, it serves its purpose well. Of course the key difference is that football has infinitely less complexity and far fewer nuances than presiding over the USA for the benefit of its people and the world as a whole.

  30. knarlyknight Says:

The http://www.exiledonline.com on the positive press about Palin’s debate:
    Sarah Palin’s Rigged Redemption

“The fix was in. There’s no other way to explain the disconnect between Sarah Palin’s performance in last night’s debate–which made me cringe so much that my forehead started to cramp–and the post-debate analysis, in which everyone in punditland agreed on the happy Hollywood ending: Sarah Palin has redeemed herself. Seeing pundits all agree about this was terrifying.”

    Interesting excerpt:

This is what even Palin’s critics fail to understand about her appeal: it isn’t that she’s “one of them”–the Joe Sixpacks and the Dodge Durango-driving Bloodsport Moms. Palin looks nothing like Middle Americans–she’s too physically perfect, too confident, too healthy, with a perfect pearly smile. The reason she’s so popular is because Palin is the adult incarnation of the top Heather.

Those who have seen Heathers and remember honestly their own high school experience know everyone wants to be friends with the popular bully. It’s ingrained in our culture–middle Americans are drawn to bullies like John McCain and Sarah Palin on a level so primitive that it’s almost impossible to counteract.

This has been substantiated by a recent study that suggests bullies are considered “cool” and popular by all (including school staff) but the directly-bullied kids.

  31. NorthernLite Says:

I too, used to cram like hell for a week or two before high school final exams, just so I would pass. Thanks heavens no teachers ever asked me to elaborate or provide more detail to some of my answers

So I guess if I study my ass off for a couple weeks on how to be a vice president or president I will be qualified to lead the free world. Awesome!

  32. knarlyknight Says:

NL, the difference is that your brain is reasonably organized…

Yet surely, more than most of us, politicians need to be able to think on their feet, to have a brain that works quickly and rationally under pressure. Do we really want to be led by someone who, when asked a straightforward question, flails around like an undergraduate who stayed up all night boozing instead of studying for the exam?
