Please point out even once where I wrote “The Iraq War is lost.” (excepting my quoting your post above). You won’t find it. It is another right wing fantasy of yours.

Perhaps you didn’t notice it, but the DOW was down almost 350 today. The housing market sucks and oil is through the roof (along with food, education and other basics – except computers and gadgets).

Yeah, I’ll stand by that statement. He, and you, have said the war Iraq was lost, it wasn’t, the economy isn’t great, but it’s not in a depression or even a recession, your last comment makes my point.

surely you must be joking as Obama has run a generally uplifting, unifying, forward looking campaign, but all the Rs can do is bitch about the other guy…

My wife and I watched w (last night), we watched grandpa fred, we watched 9ui11iani (get that man a toothbrush mustache! he has the Goebbels thing down man!) and finally we watched Palin.

At the end we looked at one another and asked the same question: it is fine to attack the other guy I suppose, but what do you actually propose to DO? Where is the beef? Palin came off as shrill, nasty and a liar (all that crap about the bridge to nowhere, her anti-corruption cred etc etc). I think the base will be energized by her, but no one else.

So the economy is great huh? (checks stock market… holy farking shnitzle!)

Baghdad is a City of 15 foot high walls now, a religious segregation resulting in 4 hour trips through several checkpoints to get to the next block; & the people are still far worse off than prior to the invasion and you call that success. It is far more plausible under these circumstances that the war is not “all but won” (as has been claimed for the past 5 years!) , rather the US army has essentially disengaged from any meaningful street level encounters until after the November elections – preferring to rely on air strikes (!) in urban areas instead with predictable increases in dead, maimed and permanently disfigured Iraqi women and children.

Don’t tell me about the economic numbers – I looked at the US GDP changes by sector in constant dollars a few weeks ago and it looked like the only thing preventing the official start of a recession were higher GOVERNMENT spending figures. If you’ve seen figures that are looking up, do you mean “looking up” from the bottom of the economic abyss the economy slid into during the term of the Bush Administration?

Yeah, they mentioned the economy last night, I don’t know what we would talk about, the numbers that came out the day before Obama’s speech were pretty good, unemployment was down, growth rate was up, we’ve all but won the war in Iraq, we turned over a portion of the country the other day to the Iraqis. Things are looking pretty good. Some of these items really don’t work well in a convention theme, they do for Democrats because D’s tend to be more emotional and more negative, so a bumper sticker slogan is all you need. Tell the folks the economy sucks and your done. R’s have to use numbers and facts so it takes more time because you are actually informing people rather than trying to frighten them. That is why the R’s are talking so much about the McCain’s Vietnam record, it tugs at the heart, these conventions are more cheerleading sessions than anything else.

The other thing R’s don’t want to do is look like all they are doing is answering the charges of the D’s especially since the conventions are so close. That makes you look like you are following, now of course you have to do it to a certain extent, but you want viewers to come away with the thought your side is taking a different path to the same location not following your opponent. That would be the same if the R’s had held their convention first. It’s kind of like baseball where the visitors get first bat so they have the opportunity to jump to a lead, but the home team knows exactly what they have to do in the last inning, there are advantages and disadvantages to either team.

Welcome to your ‘macaca’ moment folks. Rove can spin this six ways from sunday, but people just aren’t that dumb. Now we need to execute, get the people to the polls and take back our country.

It aint over yet (I fear a Obama gaff of similar proportions). But if he has discipline and can keep hammering on the issues it is indeed over.

I mean, have you heard even one – one! – mention of the economy from the Rs? Not a peep.

Just keep over using your POW card. Over and over and over…

I’ve been a fan of Noonan’s for years and that doesn’t surprise me she would say that, on or off camera. probably not as frank as she is here, she would rather win the old fashioned way. But when you’re behind you want Dick Morris in your court. Peggy can tell us what to do after we win. She is right that Republicans aren’t as good and trickery and deceptive politics as Democrats, but we’re learning.
