gawdam them commies at NASA! using them facts n figures! grrrrr! why do they hate our FREEDOM™®©!!! so?

http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/graphs/Fig.A2_lrg.gif

also interesting: The period between 1940 and 1975 represents the time when aerosols may have been temporarily dampening the warming effect of GHGs. The more recent period would indicate that GHGs have overwhelmed the global cooling effect. The sobering possibility is that the break-down of the balance between cooling and warming represents only one tipping point out of several, all of which are contributing to an increase in global temperatures and tropical Atlantic sea surface temperatures. Those tipping points in toto form the basis for the truly dire possibility that global temperature will increase dramatically over the next two decades alone. Source: NASA GISS

No doubt industry shills will seek to discredit this new data and perhaps even proclaim that aerosol pollutants, often oxides of sulfur and nitrogen, are therefore 'good.' I asked Michael Mann about that idea; he responded in part, "Aerosol production has leveled off. The warming due to GHGs continues unabated. So the global GHG warming is increasingly winning out over the regional aerosol cooling, and this is responsible for the upsurge in tropical Atlantic SSTs. Polluting the atmosphere to mitigate global warming would probably destroy our environment twice as fast. We'd have to pollute at an ever accelerating rate to offset the continued warming. A Faustian bargain if there ever was one."

Just one note regarding "global warmining". The issues isn't really "global warmining", but rather global climate change. Human activities are affecting the way jet streams flow and a whole lot of other stuff. Global warming is just one aspect of global climate change.

That might help explain why you are experieincing cooler than normal temps in your area, TV, while the northern parts of arctic countries are receiving much warmer than normal temps.

A really bright guy, who some say is actually the 43rd president of the US, just released a ver clear, concise documentary on this subject. I suggest everyone watch it, then decide if you think human activity is a factor.

Perhaps you should take up smoking, if you don't already. I know they say it causes cancer, but until you actually get it, lets not blame the cigarretes.

well, I take that back, evidently there are some forced abortions:
snipped from firedoglake

"The WaPo reports today that an e-mail has surfaced from Ralph Reed to then-Rep. Bob Riley (R-AL), asking him to vote against workers’ rights legislation for the Northern Marianas Islands. You know, where the conditions required forced abortions and forced prostitution for many of the underpaid female workers — how very Christian of Mr. Reed.

And isn’t it just such a coincidence that one of the biggest manufacturers on the islands — who stood to profit handily by keeping wages at a pittance and all — employed Jack Abramoff as their lobbyist. Completely unrelated to Ralph’s letter writing, I’m sure. What a coinky-dink.

"The radical left, the Big Labor Union Bosses, and Bill Clinton want to pass a law preventing Chinese from coming to work on the Marianas Islands," the mailer from Reed’s firm said. The Chinese workers, it added, "are exposed to the teachings of Jesus Christ" while on the islands, and many "are converted to the Christian faith and return to China with Bibles in hand."

A year earlier, the Department of the Interior — which oversees federal policy toward the U.S. territory — presented a very different picture of life for Chinese workers on the islands. An Interior report found that Chinese women were subject to forced abortions and that women and children were subject to forced prostitution in the local sex-tourism industry.

It also alleged that the garment industry and other businesses set up facilities on the Northern Marianas to produce products labeled "Made in the USA," while importing workers from China and other Asian countries and paying them less than U.S. minimum wage under conditions not subject to federal safety standards."

bottom line? If the pusch regime can have campaign 2004 bomber jackets made in a dictatorship (Myanmar/Burma) we are supposed to be boycotting, well then maybe it is AOK for Ralph Reed to profit from having cheap Chinese labor slaving away in his sweatshops in the Marianas? errrrr, not. Check your moral compass TV et al, cuz you folks are lost.

All your 'points' about "choice" being the opperative motive for Nazis and slavery are just laughable. But I guess when there is profit to be made, tighty righties manage to hold their noses and look the other way. Whatever it takes to beat them dirty Demoncrats eh?

And just so I get to grind your nose in this filth a bit further, Reed was conspiring with Jack (only contributed to Republicans) Abramoff and Michael Scanlon (his partner), who had this to say about the patsies, err I mean people of faith/wingnuts "Our mission is to get specifically selected groups of individuals to the polls to speak out AGAINST something. To that end, your money is best spent finding them and communicating with them on using the modes that they are most likely to respond to. Simply put we want to bring out the wackos to vote against something and make sure the rest of the public lets the whole thing slip past them. The wackos get their information form (sic) the Christian right, Christian radio, mail, the internet and telephone trees."

Reason #327 for invading Iraq: to prevent gay marriage!

I'm not really paying attention, sorry. But in terms of the four questions I assume you're referring to, here's my knee-jerk reaction:

"The world once experienced an Ice Age - so, did global warming begin with the election of 2000?"

Nope.

"Why are many areas of the world not demonstrating effects of global warming, or does “global” not infer “world-wide”?"

Because the global climate is a very large-scale system, and the effects of human activity on it are gradual, and, at least so far, and at least in some respects, subtle.

"When the cyclic trend begins to reverse, and we experience the next trend of “global cooling,” will there be renewed panic over a new Ice Age?"

If that happens, then yeah, probably. Which neither you, nor anybody else, is currently in a position to predict. And if that does come to pass, it doesn't mean that short-sighted human activities weren't involved in bringing it about, or that concerns about the effects of human activities on the global climate weren't warranted.

"Are the plans yet laid for blaming Rethuglicans when that time arrives? "

The impact of human activities on the climate is a real concern among responsible scientists, and it's the kind of problem that gets harder and harder to deal with effectively the longer we postpone dealing with it. Meanwhile, the Republican party in the US has taken the lead in denying that the problem exists, and in working with the fossil fuel industry to put out bullshit to confuse the issue.

I'd say there's no need to wait to blame them until later. Blame them now. They're guilty.

The 4 previously stated questions remain standing without response. Perhaps jbc could help us out here, since he usually tends to actually address issues without diversion. If I am wrong, proven with neutral sources, I am man enough to admit it (as before).

"I feel no need to respond point by point to local weather conditions when global warming is the issue. I note that you cannot refute that mean increase in global temps match the increase in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Sorry if the Science doesn’t reflect your beliefs."

I concur that the increases match, as they surely did during the last cyclic warming trend. It has nothing to do either with beliefs or political preferences, but only an awareness of historical climate trends.

Wiki is simply another opinionated blog site, disguised by a deceptive title. It's somewhat entertaining, but not a neutral source for reference on any topic.

The topic was genocide via abortion. I fully support abortive measures in many circumstances (rape, incest, saving the mother's life, instances in which the mother was a victim, etc.), but not simply as an "on-demand remedy" when the mother has made an unwise choice.

Historically, genocide has often been framed in the language of "choice":
FINAL SOLUTION - The Nazis justified ethnic cleansing because Germany's racial make-up was the choice of the people, also asserting Hitler's rights of choice.
SLAVERY - Stephen Douglas was personally against slavery, but argued that it should be the states' choice.
ABORTION - Genocide is not mandated (yet), it is a matter of personal choice.

With no valid basis for argument, and the narccicistic temptations too great to resist trolling, it makes sense that you would avoid the issue by discussing imaginary topics.

go edit wiki if you feel so strongly about your opinions

I feel no need to respond point by point to local weather conditions when global warming is the issue. I note that you cannot refute that mean increase in global temps match the increase in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Sorry if the Science doesn't reflect your beliefs.

Forgive me for pointing out the obvious, but in a discussion (I am trying to be kind here) about abortion and women's choice, the issue IS about their control of their body (more specifically the reproductive organs). Your Bahble might have a different opinion. Or is it the Koran? The Necronomicon? Book of Mormon? (I say take out that second "m" and call it a day).

ps - you are still dead wrong about finding those WMDs in Iraq (2,450 or so dead wrong, plus about 15 or 20 thousand wounded, and of course counting them dead Mooslims aint your job, and you couldn't give a crap).

pps - your bevy of choice (oooohhhh that word agin!) seems to be crystal light - check the label, it is synthetic junk. Garbage in, garbage out

ps - you are still dead wrong about finding those WMDs in Iraq (2,450 or so dead wrong, plus about 15 or 20 thousand wounded, and of course counting them dead Mooslims aint your job, and you couldn’t give a crap).

pps - your bevy of choice (oooohhhh that word agin!) seems to be crystal light - check the label, it is synthetic junk. Garbage in, garbage out

Still trolling with ignorant insults, eh? Drinking tea-flavored Kool-Aid again?

Global warming - The four questions still stand. Since you can't form an opinion on your own, as usual, surely you can put a finger-in-the-wind by running a Google search for someone elses thoughts. The issue becomes political in nature when one man (Bush) is blamed for single-handedly causing the phenomenon.

You're really fixated on your wife's uterus - you need to see someone about your obsession. Is that all she has, or did you match up with her for any other reason? Oops - asking questions again. Hate to put you on the spot that way. Anyway, congratulations on marrying a uterus.

You also seem obsessed with this business of shooting people. I've never mentioned any such thing - hearing conversations in your head? Get some help for that, too.

Speaking of never mentioning subjects (to which you make reference consistently): I've never mentioned "mah Bahble;" I've made no reference to Christianity; I've never characterized Barbara Boxer as a Nazi, only a fool (reading comprehension?). Your dad's hatred must have had a greater negative influence than you realize.

Since you were ignorant of the woman who gave your wife control of her uterus, you turned to Wiki for opinions about Margaret Sanger, rather than looking for factual data? If you find supporting documentation from a neutral source, please share it.

A brief, incomplete review of Sanger's history as an activist (no opinions here):
---- - Obsessed with eugenics.
1916 - Founded the National Birth Control League
1916 - Opened a birth control clinic in Brooklyn, NYC
1921 - Changed name of NBCL to American Birth Control League
1929 - Opened the Harlem Clinic
1930s - Changed name of ABCL to Birth Control Federation of America
1939 - The Negro Project
1942 - Changed name of BCFA to Planned Parenthood.
1966 - Dead (no activism there)

Just a few DIRECT QUOTES, straight from the writings of Margaret Sanger and her organization:

“Blacks, who make up 14 per cent of all childbearing women, have 31 per cent of all abortions and whites, who account for 81 per cent of women of childbearing age, have 61 per cent.”
Planned Parenthood’s research arm, 1996

“The most successful educational approach to the Negro is through a religious appeal. We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population, and the Minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members."
Margaret Sanger - Founder, Planned Parenthood

“Birth control appeals to the advanced radical because it is calculated to undermine the authority of the Christian churches. I look forward to seeing humanity free someday of the tyranny of Christianity no less than Capitalism.”
Margaret Sanger - Founder, Planned Parenthood

“The masses of Negroes, particularly in the South, still breed carelessly and disastrously, with the result that the increase among Negroes, even more than among whites, is from that portion of the population least intelligent and fit.”
Margaret Sanger - Founder, Planned Parenthood

Margaret Sanger was forthcoming about her desire to kill off as many as she could of the racial, economic, and other groups that she considered “unfit elements.” In her “Pivot of Civilization”, she stressed the need, as she saw it, for “The ‘elimination of human weeds,’ for the ‘cessation of charity’ because it prolonged the lives of the unfit, for segregation of ‘morons, misfits, and the maladjusted,’ and for sterilization of genetically inferior races.”

Now for the OPINIONS:

“Although Planned Parenthood has resorted to all sorts of propaganda tricks to distance itself from these comments of hers, their track record confirms that they have not strayed one bit from the course she mapped out, most cruelly in the name of ‘choice.’”

“The ‘right to select’, the ‘right to choose’ are deplorable slogans. Underneath these democratic-sounding phrases lurks an especially hideous form of tyranny: the right to choose to kill. Just as the Nazis claimed the right to select who would expire in gas chambers, today’s perpetrators insist upon the right to choose who will perish in abortion chambers.
“The catch words ‘selection’ and ‘choice’ represent a blatant sham because the individuals affected, the victims, are the very ones who are denied the right to choose. ….Death by someone else’s selection….is not freedom, but the worst kind of oppression."
Sociology professor William Brennan - The Abortion Holocaust – Today’s Final Solution

“The early church brought an end to such things as infanticide.” (Oh, really? What would MLK think today?)
Martin Luther King, Jr. - Letter from a Birmingham Jail

“That is why the Constitution called us three-fifths human and then whites further dehumanized us by calling us ‘niggers.’ It was part of the dehumanizing process. The first step was to distort the image of us as human beings in order to justify that which they wanted to do and not even feel like they had done anything wrong. Those advocates of taking life do not call it killing or murder, they call it abortion. They further never talk about aborting a baby because that would imply something human. Rather they talk about aborting the fetus. Fetus sounds less than human and therefore abortion can be justified."
Rev. Jesse Jackson - Before self-realization of a potential political future in the Democrat Party, at which time he chose corruption of politics over values.

“Man can get used to anything, the beast.”
Dostoyevsky - Crime and Punishment

STATISTICAL DATA:

On average, 1,452 black babies are aborted every day in the United States.

A black baby is three times more likely to be murdered in the womb than a white baby.

Since 1973, abortion has reduced the Black population by over 25 percent.

Almost three times as many Blacks have died from abortion than from AIDS, accidents, violent crimes, cancer, and heart disease combined.

Every three days, more Blacks are killed by abortion than have been killed by the Ku Klux Klan in its entire history.

Planned Parenthood operates the nation’s largest chain of abortion clinics, with about 80 percent of its facilities located in minority neighborhoods.

3 out of 5 pregnant Black women will abort their child.

Statistical evidence indicates that black women are more likely to die from abortion complications than white women, due largely to racist attitudes common among abortionists.

A highly significant Howard University study showed that African American women over age 50 were 4.7 times more likely to get breast cancer if they had had any abortions compared to women who had had no abortions.

"During the 1980s when Planned Parenthood shifted its focus from community-based clinics to school-based clinics, it again targeted inner-city minority neighborhoods. Of the more than 100 school-based clinics that have opened nationwide in the last decade [1980s], none has been at substantially all-white schools. None have been at suburban middle-class schools. All have been at black, minority or ethnic schools."
George Parkin Grant - Canadian author

MY PERSONAL OBSERVATIONS & CONCLUSIONS:

Margaret Sanger's life-long quest for elimination of an "inferior race" was adopted as the basis of the Democrat Party abortion plank; and the Democrat Party continues to use this and other disengenuous means to keep Blacks "on the plantation," dependent on government services (Starr Parker).

The liberal wingnuts of the Democrat Party are directly, and solely, responsible for the genocidal elimination of millions of people, 13 million of them black. Saviors of the Black race?

As a man of mixed races, I am personally shamed by the apparent ignorance of Black leaders whose political greed has led their people into accepting the Sanger propoganda, the misnomer of "choice."

One last quote:

"We’re destroying the destiny and purpose of others who should be here. Who knows the musicians we’ve lost? Who knows the great leaders the black community has really lost? Who knows what great minds of economic power people have lost? What great teachers?
An old African proverb: 'No one knows whose womb holds the chief.'"
Johnny M. Hunter - LEARN

Sorry for the lengthy discourse, but brevity doesn't seem to warrant a thoughtful response, either. Now, bring on the usual "rebuttal" - silly, childish, insulting language without substance and criticism of my 3,500-square-foot, tri-level, brick trailer should suffice. You've neglected to mention my Miata pick'm-up truck - come on, you can do better. Hurt me deeply....make me better.

I did indeed google M Sanger and she seems a nutter. wiki had this: "Sanger remains a controversial figure. While she is widely credited as a leader of the modern birth control movement, and remains an iconic figure for the American reproductive rights movements, she also is reviled by some who condemn her as "an abortion advocate" (perhaps unfairly so: abortion was illegal during Sanger's lifetime and Planned Parenthood did not then support the procedure or lobby for its legalization)"

The fact remains that no one forces anyone to have an abortion. I support every woman's right to choose. Either way, my wife's uterus is in her body and it is her decision (sorry if that conflicts with your Bahble, where women are property and slavery is AOK). This reminds me of when I was a boy back in XX, I had a great friend who was a Christian Scientist. His brother contracted encephalitis (or was it meningitis? couldn't take him to the doctor, so it was hard to know, and it was decades ago). Their choice was to pray for him rather than take him to the Dr. He died. Stupid choices also have consequences.

TV why don't you try to work towards having no NEED for abortion? You know, sex ed, condoms, abstinence, counseling, jobs, church, community etc. Too reality based for you?

And Barbara Boxer = Nazi? wow that wingnuttery scores an 11! Is her no vote on the WAR still buggin you?

As to global warming, there simply isn't enough time in the day to provide you with the facts and figures (which you will conveniently just not 'believe'). Forgive me if I break decorum to ask how stupid are you that you can't see that the mean global temps are rising in lock step with greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere? Who gives a flying **** what the temp is outside your double wide? Are you really so blindly partisan that you can't see this isn't a political issue? It is an issue of survival. Survival of the fittest (now where have I heard that before? oh yeah).

My wife is Canadian, so Canada would be an option. Funny how you think axe handles and arm bands are just around the corner (just like success in I-raq!)

Tolerance for Republicans means you haven't started shooting yet. Bravo.

In my haste, I confused two fools - Barbara Boxer and Margaret Sanger. Sorry, although you probably don't know who Margaret Sanger was, either. Let me help you - she was the devout racist who created The Negro Project, her Eugenic Plan for Black America. She led the way into the beautiful misnomer, "Women's Right to Choose (genocide)."

"Margaret Sanger aligned herself with the eugenicists whose ideology prevailed in the early 20th century. Eugenicists strongly espoused racial supremacy and 'purity,' particularly of the 'Aryan' race. Eugenicists hoped to purify the bloodlines and improve the race by encouraging the 'fit' to reproduce and the 'unfit' to restrict their reproduction. They sought to contain the 'inferior' races through segregation, sterilization, birth control and abortion." Do you wonder why I drew the analogy with Hitler, hmmmm?

Founder of Planned Parenthood (the "leader" in abortions for many years running), Sanger herself wrote, "Organized charity itself is the symptom of a malignant social disease. Those vast, complex, interrelated organizations aiming to control and to diminish the spread of misery and destitution and all the menacing evils that spring out of this sinisterly fertile soil, are the surest sign that our civilization has bred, is breeding and perpetuating constantly increasing numbers of defectives, delinquents and dependents." More bluntly, Sanger wrote, "Colored people are like human weeds and are to be exterminated." Her clinics were set up almost exclusively in black neighborhoods, for obvious reasons.

You can run your standard Google search to find more info, but it would require delving into the Dark Side. Yeah, I know, you can find plenty of supporters of eugenics who deny even the last quote I provided from Barbara Boxer's heroine.

as to global warming - my 4 questions still stand. My reading comprehension is sufficient to realize that you avoided all of them (although you partially answered the last one), but it's difficult to make sense of the incoherency of a fool.

After more than two weeks, we finally reached normal seasonal temperatures today (though we're still averaging ten degrees below normal temps for the year). Oh my God, or oh my goodness, or oh shit if you prefer; panic time....the doomsday prophets are right...everyone into the water before we burn.

Please don't wait for Rethuglicans to hand out axe handles and arm bands before making your decision about relocating. Flashback....I seem to remember Hollyweird celebrities' promises to move to Canada if Bush won in 2004. I know you don't have the guts to resist conforming to the beliefs of everyone around you, so I don't expect you to pack your bags until those "shining stars" lead the way.

Founder of Planned Parenthood (the “leader” in abortions for many years running), Sanger herself wrote, “Organized charity itself is the symptom of a malignant social disease. Those vast, complex, interrelated organizations aiming to control and to diminish the spread of misery and destitution and all the menacing evils that spring out of this sinisterly fertile soil, are the surest sign that our civilization has bred, is breeding and perpetuating constantly increasing numbers of defectives, delinquents and dependents.” More bluntly, Sanger wrote, “Colored people are like human weeds and are to be exterminated.” Her clinics were set up almost exclusively in black neighborhoods, for obvious reasons.

You can run your standard Google search to find more info, but it would require delving into the Dark Side. Yeah, I know, you can find plenty of supporters of eugenics who deny even the last quote I provided from Barbara Boxer’s heroine.

as to global warming - my 4 questions still stand. My reading comprehension is sufficient to realize that you avoided all of them (although you partially answered the last one), but it’s difficult to make sense of the incoherency of a fool.

After more than two weeks, we finally reached normal seasonal temperatures today (though we’re still averaging ten degrees below normal temps for the year). Oh my God, or oh my goodness, or oh shit if you prefer; panic time….the doomsday prophets are right…everyone into the water before we burn.

Please don’t wait for Rethuglicans to hand out axe handles and arm bands before making your decision about relocating. Flashback….I seem to remember Hollyweird celebrities’ promises to move to Canada if Bush won in 2004. I know you don’t have the guts to resist conforming to the beliefs of everyone around you, so I don’t expect you to pack your bags until those “shining stars” lead the way.

as to global warming

- the Atlantic current (you know the one that warms both Olde and Neue Europe) is down 40% in the last 5 years
- the Arctic ice cap hasn't formed for several years running now
- green house gases (including CO2) are at million year high concentrations
- unless there is some hidden carbon sink saving us, we need to do something concrete so that our grandchildren don't inherit a world wrecked by greed, stupidity and ignorance.

There is no serious scientific debate about climate change. It is happening now. Have a nice day.

Abortion: The fondest dreams of Barbara Sanger are being fulfilled. She and Adolf Hitler would be proud.

I couldn't find your Barbara Sanger hero on google (tho I did find a lies.com page from 10/05 where you mention her again. Must be a family friend or personal hero of yours?) To wrap up on abortion: your reading comprehension is so low the scariest thing I can think of is you 'teaching' impressionable young minds (shudders). I'll try to use simple words here... abortion BAD, education GOOD, sex ed GOOD, abstinence pledges STUPID, condoms GOOD, choice GOOD.

I'll transition back to grown up speak here to say that your implied equation of libs/dems support of personal choice = holocaust is pathetic. Libs/progs/dems advocate personal choice and personal responsibility. If your wife chooses to not to have an abortion, no lib/prog/dem is going to sneak in and force her to have one (duh). I respect her choice about her body. End of story. On the other hand, you wish to restrict the choices of others according to your narrow views and a religious tome (is it the Bible? the Koran? something the Easter bunny wrote down for you? take your pick). Yet you imply libs/progs/dems are like the deplorable Nazis. Laughable. The SS had belt buckles with the phrase "Gott mit uns" or God with us... Might doth not make right. Once you Rethuglicans start handing out axe handles and arm bands, I am moving to Canada (or Spain... Barcelona roxors - the kids can learn Spanish).

"A dictatorship would be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I am the dictator" well, we are just a whisker away from dumbya's Hitlerian fantasy (must have sat too long at grandpappy's knee).

The world once experienced an Ice Age - so, did global warming begin with the election of 2000?

Why are many areas of the world not demonstrating effects of global warming, or does "global" not infer "world-wide"?

When the cyclic trend begins to reverse, and we experience the next trend of "global cooling," will there be renewed panic over a new Ice Age?

Are the plans yet laid for blaming Rethuglicans when that time arrives?

FYI - You're right Teachvet, warm gulf waters are responsible for more instense and more frequent hurricanes.

And because the gulf waters are continuing to warm due to global climate change and the resulting weather pattern shifts, this trend of violent hurricanes will only get worse.

School is out, yea! I can spend my days working to clear the property.

Yes, many areas of the earth are certainly feeling the effects of a warming cycle, with many other areas not experiencing the phenomenon. In the 1970s the doomsday-panicky activists were broadcasting their fears of a coming ice-age - did Carter over-adjust the thermostat? Perhaps they are incapable of studying cyclic warming/cooling trends of the past.

Melting glacier are causing hurricanes in the gulf? And I thought opposing fronts combined with warm water in the gulf caused them - silly me.

Personally, I'm ready for some typical seasonal warmth. We've not reached 70 degrees for the last 15 days, and jackets were required at the stadium last night for graduation ceremonies.

I can think of only one politician who has made a stupid statement advocating genocide for the opposing party, and my sentiments about him mirror yours for Jefferson, although I prefer a trial before sentencing. Cunningham is his own voice, not that of the Rethuglican Party. My wife is an Illinois native, and is forever repulsed by the Dhimmicrat Party corruption in Chicago by the Daly dynasty, although the citizens there continue to vote for them - or do they? - or does ballot-stuffing constitute corruption? - or does Daly/mob-style behavior constitute corruption? - or does mysterious discovery of "lost" ballots in WA state? Trying to avoid mention of Kennedy family bahavior....as a kid I was a fan of Jack and Bobby, but what happened to the rest of the family?

Abortion: The fondest dreams of Barbara Sanger are being fulfilled. She and Adolf Hitler would be proud.

Racism: Most of the local Democrats - both black and white - are openly racist in both speech and actions. If I mirrored your propensity for attributing all ill-advised behavior to political affiliation, I would associate their racism with party policy - but I don't believe that.

As I cut enough timber to load a truck, the black farmer on adjacent property behind us is taking it to the mill for lumber to rebuild his barn and sheds. I could sell it, as neighbors have done, but Mr. Hopson is in need. The back of his home had a tree speared through it. He and "the missus" were isolated, living in the remaining two rooms of their little shack, eating only toast for 5 days before I checked on him. Mr. Hopson was too proud to ask for food from the Red Cross, but they are now eating like royalty, with food provided by a local church until they get back on their feet. Using me as a single example, can it be said that all Republicans would do the same? Unfortunately, no; such generalizing would be false. I am merely following the dictates of my "beliefs" that neighbors should help each other

Only I and a few local Amish (my wife's maiden name was Yoder, her ancestors Amish, so I had little problem securing help for Mr. Hopson) are helping him - and no public attention is being drawn to the neighborly efforts. As a First Responder, I am merely following the dictates of my "beliefs" that neighbors should help each other in time of need, as my son-in-law did in New Orleans a few months ago. The hugs from Mrs. Hopson are the only compensation or recognition my wife and I need.

None of the neighbors are using FEMA trailers, but I know nothing about the construction of their temporary, insurance-provided dwellings.
