Controversial Books: They Aren’t Just For Burning
It’s that time of year again. September 24th to October 1st is Banned Book Week, sponsored by the American Library Association. This is a great week to go to your neighborhood independent book store and pick up a banned book.
My personal favorite has to be Captain Underpants for “offensive language and modeling bad behavior”. Have a sense of humor folks, seriously.

My son is a huge Captain Underpants fan. Those books are fairly disgusting, but certainly don’t deserve to be banned.

My son also loves Captain Underpants. I have read these books. I see nothing wrong with them. My son is ADHD and always had trouble reading books. I have tried everything to get him to read but nothing worked till one day at his school one of his teachers gave him this book. He finished the book in 2 days. And he still rereads the books. If it has him reading I am fine with it. Boys will be Boys. As jbc said the book is disgusting but what else are 10 yr old boys like more than something being disgusting. Yes I understand what some ppl are saying think of the children. I am at least he is not reading the really volent comic books. This book is not for kids who are like 7 and under kids maybe 8 depending on the child themselves but kids who are 9 or 10 or older its fine. just some of the parents need to lighten up. I remeber when i was 10 alot of boys and girls talking more about sex and smoking just hey u want kid reading a harmless book or out there talking about having sex
