Congressman Jim McGovern on the Current State of the US Occupation of Iraq
Jim McGovern (D-MA) was in Iraq recently, and he takes a skeptical view of Bush’s claims of success there: What I Didn’t See in Iraq.
Everything we have been told about Iraq by the Bush Administration has either been an outright lie or overwhelmingly false. There were no weapons of mass destruction; we have not been greeted as liberators; and the cost in terms of blood and treasure has outpaced even their worst-case scenarios. Trust is something I cannot give to this Administration.
If things in Iraq are so much better, why are we not decreasing the number of US forces there? Why is the insurgency showing no signs of waning? Why are we being told that in a few months the Administration will again ask Congress for billions of dollars more to fight the war? Why, according to the World Food Program, is hunger among the Iraqi people getting worse? It’s time for some candor, but candor is hard to come by in Iraq.

I think I can field this one. It’s not that things are bad, it’s just that we really want all of our troops to meet as many of our new Iraqi friends as possible. Tell me, how can we possibly attain that goal if we cut back on the number of troops in Iraq?
I can field this one too. Our new Iraqi friends are trying to get on the American Diet rollercoaster. This is part of their appreciation of our culture. Soon, they will be receiving unemployment checks, sitting on their couches, eating cheese curls, and yelling at participants on Jerry Springer. (“Allah wills it! Throw the damn chair, you bastard guy!”)
Another easy one…this is a Democrat conspiracy. They’re trying to paint a bad picture of the Bush administration’s “hard work” by overstating the monies needed for our effort to smoke out the terra’sts.
Does anyone know if Bush’s propagand…erm…PR people are hiring these days?

Man,
Can’t wait till people actually realise that there were Destructive Weapons and that the pussys in the United Nations gave them enough time to move them else where to a more secure and secret location!! These people arn’t just Sadistic Bastards, they are also very clever and should not be under estimated.
We should strike while the Iron is hot and continue to Destroy as many Terrorist Countries as possible, we should hit Iran next, might even be where the weapons are!! But there has been too many American soldiers getting killed I agree.
Therefor I propose that we use Heavy and Dense satuation Bombing on these Terrorist nations like Iraq and Iran, also Lybia etc…etc…. there will be a few civilians killed but you know how it is, it’s part of the territory, and less army men will be dying. Also far easier to kill them when you can’t see ’em dieing.
All Good……the Aussie Doctor Robert
P.S. Most Australians like President Bushes efforts and are backing him. We have a lot of respect for him as does our Priminister John Howard. Tony Blair is great too, he likes Beatles Music which is fab.

The poll i saw showed that Austraillians didn’t agree with Iraq and don’t like the direction their country is headed. I can’t say I blame them, who wants a leader that follows along with fuckstick’s crazy ideas?

You believe in the sanctity of polls? With selective polling and deceptive wording of questions, both of which are used often, the pollster can arrive at any results he wants.
