Jeff Gannon Quits, World o’ Crap Gets Wapo Mention
Valued lies.com reader and contributor Sven was trying to tell me about this story the other day, but I’ve been really busy, and only paid enough attention to go, huh, that’s a weird one. And now the mainstream media has picked it up, so I get the fun experience of seeing a straight news story in the Washington Post mentioning a trio of weblogs in their story on the matter, with two of those being current residents in the lies.com blogroll. Yay.
So, from the WaPo: Online reporter quits after liberals’ expose.
He has been under scrutiny since asking Bush how he could work with Senate Democratic leaders “who seem to have divorced themselves from reality.” The information about Gannon was posted on the liberal sites Daily Kos, Atrios and World o’ Crap.
And for the steamier version of the story, from the New York Daily News: Bush press pal quits over gay prostie link.

Hey John, I guess the part I thought you’d find most interesting was Gannon’s involvement in the Valerie Plame scandal. Gannon was apparently given a classified CIA memo that named agent Valerie Plame, and he has even been investigated in her outing.
Another media propagandist for the Bush White House has been exposed. Where does it end?

I would love to see the republicans comment here. Craig? Patriot? Hello?

Haha. I liked the NPR mention of this story this morning, saying that bloggers had uncovered that Gannon “wasn’t even using his own name”.

yeah I’m here. never heard of this guy, sounds like a real slimeball from what the second link says. i’m not registered with the washington post so I cant see the first one. So a stooge bites the dust. That is irrelevent. Resistance is Futile.

His employers in the White House are “slimeballs” too.

It never ceases to amaze me how quickly some are willing to start singing the Slick Willie tune. I was no Clinton fan but in hind site I’d rather have someone in office who is fornicating with an intern than one how is unfaithful to the public trust and jumps into bed with corporations whose SOLE interest is short term profit maximization. From a public perspective, Clinton’s moral shortcoming only forever widen the definition of a humidor. Bush has sold out public trust to the highest bidder yet we love him because he’s a Christian? I always thought that if someone had to tell you they were a Christian their actions generally don’t bear them out. I guess if you have enough people tell you something enough times you’ll start believing it.

Lies.com is getting a pretty fair endorsement from some wierd little site called “Eye and Ear Control.” If you go to recordgeek1.tripod.com and go to the contents page, click “Politics,” it links directly to this blog.

No, actually, Janet Reno’s employer did not need to pay a shill to ask softball questions because he was too weak and stupid to defend himself.
Bill Clinton speaks for himself. George Bush is too much of a pussy to do the same.
Big difference.

Joe Conason: “Proof that ‘the liberal media’ is but a figment of right-wing mythology has now arrived in the person of one James Guckert, formerly known as Jeff Gannon. Were the American media truly liberal — or merely unafraid to be called liberal — the saga of Mr. Guckert’s short, strange, quasi-journalistic career would be resounding across the airwaves.”

So the conclusion is that the mainstream media is not a network of liberal propoganda bias because one unknown journalist was “out of the mainstream.” I think you’re giving this guy (can’t even remember his name) to much weight if you are claiming that his reporting balanced that of all the “big names” combined (Rather, Brokaw, etc., list too extensive to name).
February 23rd, 2005 at 9:50 am
None of those big names were granted special access to the White House.
The reason you can’t remember his name is because you’re not sure, see his uses multiple alias’s to accompllish his propaganda missions for the president.
BTW, shouldn’t you be off killing some Iraqi children or something?
